Rather funny how rice last won something.... and more with west ham..
Hopefully arsenal win fuck all next season too, how long till rice/saka start thinking elsewhere ?
You'd think silverware will happen sooner or later, especially if they get Zubimendi and a striker.
Much as I enjoy seeing them fall short, they've been consistently good for 3 seasons.
The last 2 games of the season haven't been played yet, but if we look at their last 112 games (rather than 114) things look as follows for them in the League -
72 wins, 25 draws, 15 losses, GD of +140 and a points tally of 241.
Man City only won three more (75) and had only a slightly better goal difference (+147) and only the four more points (245) in total, so they have been pretty good.
Much like Pochettino's Tottenham though, they haven't managed in the key moments.
The top five for those last 3 seasons (just as a point of interest) is as follows, with included total points tallies -
Man City - 245
Arsenal - 241
Liverpool - 232
Newcastle - 197
Aston Villa - 192
On paper, you'd think it might be a while before the likes of Man United and Tottenham can break into that group, though of course one of them will have Champion's League football (and the associated income) next season to help them speed up that process.
they're overdue something....... golden era....... ?!?!?
last won something in 2020 the mighty fa cup
arteta needs to win something next season, otherwise owners might look elsewhere too, never mind the players
I think in Arsenal's case, the squad is better than the manager. Imagine Klopp or Guardiola or even Mourinho with that squad. I think Arteta's hysteria doesn't bring out the best in them. Makes them tense. Screaming instructions from the touchline for 90 mins, what player can feel relaxed or confident with that going on. Half the time encroaching on to the pitch and at times yesterday even inside Slot's technical area. And all that psychological stuff, with the lightbulb in the dressing room, the pickpocket, playing YNWA while they were training. Surely players feel embarrassed.
I think there was a lot going on yesterday between the two sets of players. Particularly with Merion and Lewis Skelly. I think that foul by Ibou in the last minute was a culmination of 90 mins of Lewis Skelly shithousery.
