Well you have to offer up opinions to be proved wrong.
I might just open a thread to put forward my case.
I suppose my position is, I would bet on Salah winning pots. I'll be stunned if it's anyone other than Salah.
I don't even think Virgil has a chance of winning it. I think securing VVD's signature was the most important of our 3 amigos.
So VVD as POTS is certainly open to debate as I view football,
but I wouldn't place a bet on Virgil for POTS.
I mean, the hero-worshipping and post-hoc near deification of a dude who's just screwed the club over (in running his contract down to get his dream move, and thus ensuring the club doesn't get any transfer fee benefit), is just mind-bizarre to me.
But ultimately not that surprising, given some of the excuse-making for him we've seen over the past several years.
It's just too bad he couldn't take his loyal fanclub here to Madrid with him.
Someone actually intimated or suggested that we might not have won the title without him this year or that Mo wouldn't have got his goals scored tally without Trent.
That's the level we're at now.
I for one look forward to seeing him shushing his new Madrid fan critics whenever he scores his ocassional worldie goal, or giving them the "yapping" gesture with his hands to see how well that goes down with the Madrid press afterward.
Should be fun.
For those who are ok with Trent leaving on a free, you must also be ok with us having £100m less to spend this summer. Like it or not, we need income from those players leaving to compete in the transfer market. Trent has dealt us a massive blow to serve his own ego.
That doesn’t undo everything he did as a player but it does leave a bad taste.
VOTE JOCKY tae fix this fiasco.
I would doubt any Liverpool fan is ok with Trent leaving OR the way it has played out… it’s a kick in the teeth, But that has nothing to do with wishing him misfortune or calling him a “cunt”.
The club clearly weren’t going to sanction the fees he would have demanded (understandable imo) OR the lad wanted to go to Real so badly he told them… I ain’t signing any contract OR a bit of both factors..
The club have had him since he was 6. Six year of age..,!!. Should he be grateful ? To the fans yes… But his graft made it so. Should he sign a contract in poor faith simply to act as a charity for a club now owned by multiple multi Billionaires..? No… Zero fee for him - all those years…since 1999 ? And the money men treat players like dirt the instant a club deems them surplus. Ruthless.
We need funds…? Don’t make me laugh… Record revenues - have been banking them for years in wake of TV revenues spiralling while Klopp’s football shook the world … It’s funny how some are crying that we haven’t bagged a profit after all those years of service,,,
He’s gone - it’s a bummer. The owners need to pull their grubby fingers out, the minions and the shills are getting restless.
It was said in a couple of reports in January that we had offered Trent £300k-per-week to stay and whatever anyone thinks of how much of an asset he is to the side as a creative outlet, I genuinely believe that those funds can be better allocated than on Trent.
Naturally we have to have the funds to buy said players - not blind to that - just speaking purely from a weekly wage perspective. That's 2 x £150kpw players or 3 x £100kpw players or 4 x £75kpw players etc etc etc
Committing £300kpw on a right-back is wild, no matter who they are.
In a way I'm glad hes gone if we were to offer him that amount and he took it. And then proceeded to act like he did in recent months not giving a shit we are stuck with him. He could have easily turned into another Rashford.
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
This is it for me. A shame he is gone, he is a very unique player with his passing ability from that side of the pitch. He contributed so much to us going forward. Defensively he has had some issues. Based on barca last night trent could be seen as a top defender in Spain.
Now the owners need to dig in and help the manager out with a decent transfer kitty.
