Germany team met up today and Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich did the presser…

Kimmich on Florian Wirtz's decision to join Liverpool and not Bayern: "It's important that he makes the right decision for himself. He'll have his reasons for making this decision. I hope it's the right path for him. I'll cross the fingers for him no matter where he goes. As an FC Bayern player, I would have of course wanted him to come to us. I know him from the national team and played with him - I'm focused on having him as a teammate in the national team"

Our recent offer of £110m for Wirtz which may have included Quansah and Elliot as part of that deal has been rejected by Bayer Leverkusen. It seems they want £127m in cash and won't settle for anything less.

I had and still have my doubts about us actually having the serious intent and the means to purchase Wirtz. This recent rejection by Leverkusen and the protracted nature of these negotiations, I wouldn't be surprised if this situation goes the same way as our supposed interest in Caicedo.

    Who says ??

Florian Wirtz only wants to join Liverpool.

Talks are ongoing between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen want a deal which values the player at £120m.

Wirtz is with the Germany squad preparing for Wednesday’s Nations League semi final against Portugal in Munich.

    A hour ago ?????????

Not too fussed if we we're blowing the budget on one player, when we need a LB and to sort diaz/konate contract or sell situations out... diaz got a extra year at least.... way it's going we'll lose konate on a free too, not to mention a striker

Lots of individuals and media outlets have reported the rejected bid, plus there has been no denial of this from either us or Leverkusen.

What has supposedly been said by Wirtz and what his actual intentions are could well be two entirely different things. Transfers are usually a game played between the clubs, the players, and the agents. Each will try to get the best outcome for themselves and this will usually involve a certain amount of subterfuge.

When has there ever been a first big bid for a player accepted ? especially a very hyped up one at that.

They're trying to get much as possible, not going to accept the first bid, but will come back asking for more, or a player.

2nd of june none of it means nothing atm in grand scheme of things

only complete mugs accept first bid unless they want rid.

It's not just about a bid being turned down, irrespective of whether it's the first bid or the fifth bid. It's about the machinations involved in transfers. It's not as simple as club A wanting a player, club B wanting a certain amount for that player, and then both clubs eventually coming to an agreement somewhere in the middle.

There is so much more involved with transfers, and just because a player has supposedly intimated or even explicitly outlined their plans, it doesn't mean that is the truth or that their plans will come to fruition.

I am old enough and cynical enough to not believe a player is going to sign for us until I see the obligatory picture of them wearing our shirt whilst sitting by a table pen in hand ready to sign the contract or piece of paper that has been put in front of them. This is even more the case when you've recently had your fingers burned and you have owners who aren't exactly paragons of virtue, something that can often be said of everyone else involved in transfers.

Wirtz looks like he's just announced his own transfer....

For those who haven't kept up...

Plettigoal said "he wants Mac Allisters #10 shirt as part of the deal".

Wirtz has shot him down and called him a clown. Lol
