It takes away another layer of drama though. The capacity to go from winning to losing and vice versa, just makes for better entertainment. City knocked out twice on away goals rules, Spurs too by Ajax iirc

Cup competitions in comparison with League competitions are supposed to grant the underdog a sightly better chance.
I'd be in favour of it returning but not for extra-time.

As it stands I'm not too fussed. Gives teams drawn on goal difference a chance of extra-time and then penalties.
