Tyler Morton apparently getting a loan with Blackburn.
That will be an interesting watch, if they play him in his correct position
Fingers crossed - don't have the same Manager as when Elliott was there but hopefully a lot of minutes for him. Think they finished 8th or 9th last season so if they could get near the play-off spots again with Morton playing a part that would be great.
Liverpool are preparing an opening offer for Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes. [@Ekremkonur] - a pretty inconsistent source so MASSIVE pinch of salt with this one.
If we do end up getting Bellingham next Summer I think it's Bellingham (first-choice midfield) and Morton (depth midfield) taking the 2 spots of Milner and Ox, with a slight reshuffle as to the pecking order.
I don't foresee a Nunes bid AS WELL as Bellingham unless we decide not to renew with Keita.
Here's the hypothetical situation:
I do think however that you're doing a slight disservice to the backroom staff - in recruitment for example players like Brandt and Gotze would be here rather than Mane and Salah - indeed, Salah was one Klopp's been reported to have needed persuading on yet he is now our best-paid player.
I see the hypothetical situation.
I still don't see that I was criticising anyone particularly.
You were making the case for the backroom team, based on a hypothetical situation that has never manifested in reality.
As said my money is on one of those players having a stellar time under Klopp at LFC.
That Klopp is a successful manager more so than any of our players were successful players prior to their time here at LFC.
Klopp has a proven track record of developing players which he's continued to do at lfc.
Klopp prior to LFC was a proven winner, capable of doing so on a shoestring compared with rivals and has a track record of developing players.
At Dortmund his net spend was around the 0-2 million per year.
Last manager to dethrone Bayern and good performances at the CL. Sounds familiar and recent to us LFC fans.
Winning the title against the financial prediction, getting to 3 CL finals, 1 el, 2 efl and 1 fa Cup final.
Klopp throws out a lot of praise, he had a lot of praise for his brain, his no2.
Like fergie the loss of a superb no2 didn't have too much of a negative impact on him.
I feel we'll go in circles on this so if we do I'll bow out as it's a waste of energy, but your initial point spoke of me laying criticism, where I was quite clearly laying praise.
Could Gotze or Brandt have gone on to do well under Klopp? Every chance - he's a fantastic Manager and may be the best I see for us in my lifetime. I still personally prefer that we have a team of staff on things (such as player recruitment) and am happy that Jürgen was encouraged onto certain targets, such as Salah.
I can only take it (correct me if I am wrong here) that you felt that there was an insinuation from my side that Klopp is bad at picking talent? Which, if that's what you took from it, isn't what I was getting at.
If your analysis is right, and I think it is only partially right, then the old Liverpool boot room was wrong. If you go back to interviews during the glory years, they were frequently asked what the secret to their success was. The answer was always ‘good players’.
If you think Salah is only good because Klopp trained him to be good, I think that is not a well rounded view of the situation.
You were laying praise on the backroom team and using a hypothetical scenario to do so.
I'm not sure why you are so defensive about the word criticism. You were directing praise away from Klopp to his backroom team.
It seemed to be directly suggesting that had Klopp signed Gotze & Brand instead he would have had a negative impact on the club. Which would count as a criticism from an lfc fan based on a hypothetical scenario.
Way I see it, the discussion is about the role of Klopp.
Last year many declared Klopp the greatest transfer business we could possibly do.
Greater than retaining Salah, and/or Mane.
We also have the historical reality of Klopp losing his highly praised 'brain'. Didn't have much of an impact on our fortunes.
I'd firmly argue that our most important transfer into the club this century,
Who was successful in many ways prior to LFC,
And repeating that success here,
Who has coped perfectly well with the loss of a key member of his staff,
Shouldn't be overlooked at all.
People as I see it shouldn't overestimate the backroom staff, as he's thrived without keymen already.
Lost Zorc iirc leaving Dormund, the man behind his success doing the transfers. The transfers radically improved with Klopps arrival at LFC.
Lost his no2 at LFC the brains behind the operations.
And we've seen his football philosophy father, Ragnick, fall flat on his arse.
We've seen him succeed before at dormund without our reasonably good owners. And we've seen our owners struggle to a degree without Klopp. Underperformed against their net spend which has decreased under Klopp compared with BR.
And Micheal Edwards is another alleged key backroom team member gone.
Losing another key man who brings in the players, though it never felt as sincere as his Dortmund guy was posited.
