Doubtful Red - middling owners tend never to face much open protest. Certainly not with a manager like Jurgen. Even at their worst the worst the Glazers got was green and yellow tops while Fergie was around.

No - when the team is doing well - fans are total suckers.

Would you rather he made a loss for leading the club to a position ahead of Man U in financial terms?

In my opinion that's a greater contribution the prosperity of the world than creating Microsoft, Amstrad, Costa Coffee or JD Sports.

Is there some level of personal success you would allow him for his efforts or is any amount of earnings beyond the pale in your eyes? And it's FSG that reaps the benefit of this success eventually, he has 40 percent of holdings. I mean, he could retire on that money today, couldn't he. Perhaps someone could buy it off him using a massive debt structuring and see how we get on then. Or maybe the Qataris could enter the market with full liquidity and use LFC for their purposes

Would you prefer he stayed to keep working on the project or put his asset on the market for sale?

He has. Eclipsing United is not something I thought I'd ever see.

United have tanked since losing Fergie - strange that their stock was so high during his tenure and falling so fast without… And we have had the best manager in the world for nigh on 7 years and our brand is booming.

    Quelle surprise…

Naturally Liverpool FC was unheard of pre John Henry….an unknown entity.

Yes ok - we were Englands most successful club / but still unheard of.

Taksin. £1.8 billion - £4 billion in 3 years!! 2 of them pandemic years… OMG

Oh and I would welcome a more pro active owner for sure, someone a little more keen to back the manager quicker and without recouping first, BUT Taksin - what do you think it would take for dear John to sell his most valuable asset?

I think the cost would be prohibitive especially while he has so much more to profit from while keeping hold. Liverpool FC was order of magnitude bigger (global reach) than anything he had owned before. And look at his own wealth generation since. Skyrocketed.

@Taksin - what are your thoughts on how JWH has amassed more personal wealth in the last 3 years than he had managed in the previous 69?

I didn’t ask what kind of owner you would welcome, I asked whether you’d prefer that he put the club up for sale.

Your simplistic explanation for why Utd have been much bigger than us financially (they always were) may satisfy you but I don’t think you can apply it to almost any other club because it’s so much fantasy.

Could you say the same about the wealth of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Spurs? Which manager was that down to?

“Then There Is Always Another Fact That I Am Not In Charge Of What We Can Spend”

The Liverpool boss has indicated he would like a new midfielder before the transfer window closes
Jurgen Klopp has indicated he would like a new midfielder before the end of the transfer window - but says he is "not in charge" of what Liverpool are able to spend.

With the exclusion of transfer add-ons, Liverpool have spent around £73m so far this summer on Calvin Ramsay, Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez, but have recouped close to £65m thanks to the sales of Sadio Mane, Neco Williams, Ben Davies and Takumi Minamino

It leaves the Reds with a modest net spend of less than £10m and the calls for further additions have been getting louder at a time when the injury list has been growing
Klopp admits a new arrival would be welcomed by him but admitted he is not able to move as freely in the market as he would like, again reiterating his belief of preferring to wait for the right player.
The Liverpool boss said: "When [every midfielder is] fit, 100% [we have enough numbers], but even then we always look to strengthen, but we have to and we always did [make sure] that it must be the right player and if the right player is not available at this moment then we tend to deal with what we have rather than sign a player who is not 100% right.
his situation did not change. Now we have more injuries than we would have imagined and it would be cool to have another midfielder in, of course. But now we have a situation that when the boys come back and stuff like these it changes constantly.

"Then there is also another fact that I am not in charge of what we can spend. That's the situation. We get told things and then we deal with it. That is always the same, it didn't change. You could say that is why we are here with a good understanding and a bad understanding.

"I always have to accept that and always did. That is it. It makes no sense to worry about something you cannot change. That is a waste of energy, a waste of positivity. I love this group, really I do, and not because they are so good looking, no, it's because they are incredible characters and they showed it again on Monday. Now let's go and don't worry constantly about these kinds of things, the facts are the facts, let's accept them and go from there."
