Why buy Werner when he failed miserably at Chelsea?

Can you show the part of my post there where I described him as top drawer? Ah, I see - I didn't actually say he was top drawer and you just jumped to a false conclusion to misrepresent what I said. Cool.

It's entirely possible to encourage someone and/or root for them without thinking they're brilliant. I said during the match (or slightly after - I can't recall which truthfully) that he isn't ready yet - every goal, assist, successful tackle, smart decision about when to press etc etc etc gets him closer.

No harm in wanting the best for the lad.

he had 13 Apps in 2 years (just looked) Werner has played 56 times for Chelsea. Werner will never reach the hights again. Salah is still a great talent. and will be for another 2/3 seasons.

Is this in the rumour-mill just now?

De Bruyne, Lukaku and Salah all didn't have the best time at Chelsea. Shevchenko, Falcao, Pato, Eto'o, Torres were all very mixed bags too.

In seriousness, 95 goals in 159 appearances for Leipzig in his first spell suggest he can score. His 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea suggest he can contribute goals in the Premier League, even if not at elite level.

At 26 years of age and with a pretty good injury record, he's certainly someone I would consider as an "option" at the right price. Quite quick, great runs off the ball could be a foil for others, works hard without the ball.

Certainly wouldn't acquire him for a big fee or to be a first choice centre-forward, but if we had him for the "Origi" role if you will I'd be quite happy with him. Stick him on for the last 20 minutes of matches where we lead so he can press from the front, that sort of thing.

EDIT - just now seeing that he was mentioned in the thread, hence you asking the question. No need to address the rumour-mill question.

No was Ninenteenx. So he scored goals for Leipzig, most teams play attacking in Germany. when team sit deep its way harder score. You don't get the space to run into. and you're always pressed from 2 players
Playing wide for me is second hardest position in a team after a midfielder..

Different system, different manager, Werner wasn't really suited to Chelsea's 343, his runs in behind and how early he wanted the ball made him ideally suited to how we played, onw of his issues was being offside, precisely because Chelsea didn't play the ball early enough when it was on, he went for 27.5m still in his prime no serious career injuries

Only saw the highlights, Salah hasn't looked that cool in terms of finishing since 2021.
