Well he was a legend at our club!
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
They say timing is everything in life. Poor Stevie was 10 years too late.
Just imagine stevie as Jurgen's captain.
Indeed, we would have likely beaten Real in at least one of those finals and at least 1, probably 2 more league titles with a player of his ability behind our front 3….. yet, despite, playing through the club’s asset stripping era and never playing under Jurgen, if he doesn’t slip, he probably wins more than any one of our current crop.
1x Champions League
2x FA Cup
3x League Cup
When you think how Jurgen has transformed so many players. Gerrard would have been truly frightening working under him.
There are the odd few morons who might try to defy history, but we all know what we saw. Clearly the greatest midfielder this club ever had, and one of the top 3 players in the clubs history. We all know what we saw.
Put this player into Jurgen's squad, and it is hard to see us not winning at least double, probably treble what we have. Don't want to think what happens if he had gone to Chelsea.
He was a superb number 10.. ie attacking midfielder. I didn't think he was great at holding he was naturally an attacking player.. But he was terrific in the season he played in the DM role. no matter what Ninenteex says.. he could have easily been an outstanding full back and wide player. Pretty good wasn't he ?
Cleaning up the Scots since the 13th century
Every fan of every other team feared and loathed him in equal measure. They were inherently alerted to the threat he posed. A totally unique player, could turn any game on its head.
As Ian mentioned - the old saying says ‘timing is everything’
