This is what Darwin will never be. BUT boy is he a good player for him to study,

A total phenomenon - by a distance our most lethal forward - and that’s across the entire history of this club - and the only player on the planet capable of being the first name on the Barca team sheet… on Messi’s watch.

And…. IF he doesn’t have the time for that lot… … Darwin’s evolution could start from here.

Monster player. What the fook do we win with this guy and Klopp?

His finishing needs to improve and should as he settles down.
Also a better initial return than Luis Diaz but we all know who the better player in the LWFD position is.

    Same applies with Firmino.

Our strength as a team is it's synergy when all components come together clicking to become more than the sum of its individual parts. Unfortunately Nunez is not good enough technically to link up effectively and too profligate in front of goal.

Fully agree. His stats might add up to something but he's way off in plenty of ways. At 23 he won't suddenly click in my opinion.

Brilliantly succinct - and a totally accurate appraisal to be fair

Only a few weeks back Jota was getting pelters, the synergy of our future side looks like it'll be fully apparent when Mo's time at the club winds up.

Jota/Gapko/Diaz/Nunez covers CF and LWF in 433, add on 10 in 4231 imo. Big change will come replacing Salah.
As I recall, you're effectively looking at Messi and Robben at rwf as comparable players for goals and assists in recent times.
So replacing Salah with a lad who can do what Mos done isn't a thing to bank on.

New group, new synergy might need some adaptation. Seems Klopp has finally gone for some adaptation at the end of the season.

Nunez arguably should have a far higher goal and assist count this term, he might do better in his second season.

For all the pointing to him having no English in recent times, maybe it might be considered he's adapting to a new league, language and culture.
Not exactly like he foresaw himself moving to England. Neither Mane nor Suarez proficient English speakers at the end of their LFC careers.

Maybe Luis Diaz can help him out https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/luis-diaz-desire-develop-darwin-nunez-connection-and-more

I find it tough to believe that Nunez is scoring more than a handful in that side playing the Luis role.
He'd have started every game and played more minutes in that side. No doubt Darwin lacks Suarezs all round game, but who doesn't.

Seems a bit hasty to write him off, or discount his future success.

14 goals & 12 assists in his first season in Portugal
34 goals & 5 assista in his second season at Sporting.

15 goals & 4 assists in his first season in England
Hopefully we see a similar uptick in his second season here

I cannot speak for everyone but I am certainly not writing him off - just questioning any comparisons with one of the best strikers witnessed and that mahusive fee.

Big price tag for a player at 23 lacking any real composure

I like him and think he’s got great potential but for a club with limited funds like us I can’t help but think this was a very expensive gamble.

Players like Ivan Toney would have cost less maybe half as much and would probably have better returns.

I think he'll be sold in the summer.
