Exactly. Fabrizio Romano is the “source” of a lot of this talk and it’s shite. The same “journo” that said Gakpo was locked in to sign with and only wanted United. He signed with us the next day. Chelsea has chips all over the table and is in a bind to cover it but are trying badly not to lose face.

Regarding 'due diligence', it seems according to the mirror and the echo, that Caicedo's 'camp' told our club that he would be happy to join Liverpool if a bid came in. So those of you saying we just dived in without prior contact and stuff like that, I think you're wrong.
I think this is mostly his agent trying to get more money for himself, which apparently will happen if he goes to Chelsea.
All the quotes about him only wanting to go to Chelsea seem to be coming from Chelsea Football club.
I haven't seen any direct quote from Caicedo himself saying he will only go to Chelsea or that he doesn't want to go to Liverpool.
I think LFC have acted quite ok, they talked to the player and put in a bid.
Also strange that we have heard nothing for hours. The story is not over is it.
I think Brighton are pissed off too, because it makes them look bad and how other clubs will do business with them in the future.
