My guess is they already thought £48m for Lavia was overpriced based on their initial valuation but were prepared to give a bit to get him in. I'll be surprised if they match £55m.

Caicedo is a different player with a different valuation and a different situation. They probably went right in with their best offer to see if they could snatch him. If not, we move on. It's not like there are only 2 DMs in the world that would do us.

And your probably spot on with that assessment in fairness. But if we really wanted Lavia we should have given the 50mil to get him in.

well no we never learn.Maybe if Mbappe was available for Madrid they may have sold us Tchouemani. but we know now hes signed an extension with Psg

Think this is the sensible way to look at it BUT you're asking if everyone agrees spending 170mill on those two,..........without offering an alternative......i think that's the problem for most.

My gut tells me were dodging a bullet with Caicedo. He played up in the January transfer window to go to Arsenal. Brighton want rid of him, and he wants to live in London apparently. If Lavia ends up at Chelski surely he's going to be sitting on the bench. If these players want to sell their souls to the devil, let them get on with it. Like our playing style, im sure we dont have a plan b regarding transfers. Were going end up with more sick notes aren't we ?
