Man City can afford to be incredibly proactive in the market partly down to their financial doping to be fair. We have seen Pep constantly buy full-backs and for all his work in that department, two of the titles they won over us came down to a solitary point, with questionable refereeing decisions arguably influencing things as much as the transfer market did. I will happily accept that we have held onto players too long at times though.
As to a DM and the Mac Allister situation, we'll see. So many of us are determined to see a DM come in and yet we have conceded fewer goals in the League than Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham or Newcastle - and are level with Arsenal in this department.
Bear in mind that we have spent more time reduced to 10 men than any other side. So perhaps the need isn't as pressing as we feel it is as a fanbase. Our midfield recruitment has ended up getting us players that can receive the ball and get it forward accurately and this will hopefully lead to more chance creation, with goals scored potentially acting as a counter against chances being conceded. Hard to say.
