In the 70s and 80s I would've gladly swapped the league for the FA cup. Not these days. Live football on most nights, semi finals at Wembley, the new Wembley etc etc. we'll get over this. Do you think Arsenal are bothered they went out when they did.
The league fixture at old Trafford is the only one that matters.
Btw, off the top of my head I can't remember us beating man u in the fa cup. It just doesn't register these days. Whereas the defeat at home to Brighton on a Sunday at Anfield approx 1982 still bothers me.
The kind of fan we all hate....do one you fucking nonce
Drink it up drink it in and enjoy it......its the joys of having a competitive team we are fucking box office and i love it, would not swop it for anything we are an amazing team. International break reset and go at the league full tilt this is a season where we have been spoilt no point throwing the toys outta the pram when we went to the well too many times.....we'll do the red shites in the league when it really matters to us
It's more memorable when you have little else to really play for. It will be big for the Mancs today in the same way it was big for us when Carroll knocks it down past Evans and Evra while Kuyt blams it in past De Gea. We weren't great at League level back then (11/12 season) and thus getting a win against them in the FA Cup was huge.
When we dust ourselves off and recover, we'll go into the Brighton match at Anfield knowing we're playing to potentially be top of the League, with a Europa League quarter-final to look forward to in April.
There was no need to play such a strong team against Sparta and its probably cost us a place in the semis. We have to beat them in the league
A blessing in disguise
