Lucas Diaz...
Great performance against Brighton.
VOTE JOCKY tae fix this fiasco.
Need to stop taking too many touches & provide a constant credible goal threat & make much better decisions a higher percentage of the time
He runs about a lot being mostly ineffectual far too much
He never ever stops he plays quality switches & other passes at times, but as a persistent threat that we need he was far better when playing the LFWD role as many did Getting on the shoulder making runs in behind really attacking the full back
He doesn’t do enough of that now & doesn’t spend enough of the game in areas he can hurt teams, dropping off constantly allows full backs to push onto him instead of worrying he’s on their shoulder or escaping through the channel
And now when he actually gets into the final third, he fluffs his lines so often it’s like he’s forgotten what to do in those situations through a lack of practice at them
I can totally understand why Diaz divides opinion.
He does so much excellent stuff - work-rate and footwork are reminiscent of a Suarez-level talent at times.
It's also perfectly fair to say that his finishing is inconsistent and that he can often -
- Hang onto the ball too long, reducing the threat of an attack
- Fail to pick the killer pass to a free player who has a tap-in
- Fail to get the ball in the corners when shooting
He has a LOT going for him, is an absolute treat to watch when he is on it and his desire will endear him to fans. He is arguably our most "entertaining" player - I love watching him - but we'd love to see him improve in the areas where he falls short a bit, namely these Baros-esque moments where his head is down and he seems to lose sight of options around him.
I can't imagine anyone "slating" him as such - he just needs a bit more consistency in the cutting edge, decisive moments department, particularly given how clearly talented he is.
Inconsistent finisher and tries to take on players when it's not on
