But now the dust is settling how does he look?

I was always worried about Alonso but it seems he's no one season wonder.....
Yes - Alonso all day long BUT in the absence of him and his Brilliance - I have to say I am impressed with what I have seen of Slot.

Well it's still the same season, so i'm not sure how you've worked that out?

Neverkusen could have a similar mare to us in their title defence - and up against a team like Bayern it would be more expected too, but the fact Alonso’s team has not been beaten…in any competition….by anyone…..since last May… while winning 40 of 49 games…

Possibly enough to grant them more than single season status….?

    It was a glib remark.

I do think Alonso is the real deal. if he goes on to finish with an unbeaten treble then he will go down in legend. But if he doesn't back it up with anything else in his career then we're talking Ranieri sort of status.

Oh I know - mine too.

Just highlighting why it may be perceived as more.

    For the record..

No team has managed 49 games unbeaten in top flight football….since WW2…

It’s not just about the winning of the title - the first in the clubs history btw.. It’s the consistency required to not be beaten by anyone over that period.

It’s already an absolutely astounding achievement. IF they win the Europa - it is surely up there with the greatest ever achievements in world football… No..?

I was also in favour of Alonso, but we all know that if he did well, he’d piss off to manage in Spain quicker than you can say Si Senor. A proper catch 22.

I don’t see that as a problem with Slot, although I’m not totally convinced that he’s the right choice.
I bet you can squeal like a pig!

I agree, they’re nothing special & aren’t even a good watch & have got really lucky a few times to keep the run going

It was a complete fluke & freak own goal that turned the game for them yesterday when Roma looked certain to go on and win it up until that point

I hope they lose in that they have already been given far too much kudos for the dour way they play the game & Arsenal’s invincibles were an absolute class team a truly great football side & Alonso’s counter attack long shot specialists aren’t anywhere like that good
