The pundits repeated narrative of we have the players is bollocks. Not when you can't outscore the oppo over 2 tournament finals and lose a,shootout in one. Belief and confidence are a given in any top side. It's the application in taking the limited chances in the biggest finals that's the difference.

I didnt watch the second half, finished off the series Happy Valley. great viewing. But I had Spain to win it before the tournament. England do not win major championships. one tournament in almost 60 years..And the 3rd goal for England wasn't over the line in that game..
Anyone with a decent thinking brain knows Kane is one of the main issues.. Southgate doesnt have the intelligence or willingness to start someone else.last Euro final he left Kane on against Italy and Kane was shagged out after 80 minutes. still played him for the full 120 minutes

I would even consider playing Palmer up the middle at least hes mobile and can run at the back line. from what i saw of the first half. England are too predictable. all the do is play out wide and hope Saka or Foden can do something special.

Says it all when Donald Trump faced more shots than the Spanish Keeper.

Pace/trickery feels like England's best bet up top rather than trying to work around Kane.

Watkins plus two others with through balls and Pickford launching it over the top is primitive in its way, but feels like it would yield better goalscoring opportunities.

Kane has never been the most mobile, but he's looked even more sluggish this summer.

Taking, playing and hanging your hopes on injured or semi-fit players never, ever works. See Rooney, See Beckham, See Shaw, See Kane...

You have to players properly getting beyond a deep lying forward with lots of pace and mobility. England had none of that. And that is entirely tactical.

England have some really exciting, direct pacey wingers in Eze and Gordon and they barely got a kick. Entirely tactical.

England have enough quality players to not have to watch them play turgid, slow, negative shit.

You can lump Southgate in with likes of Bruce, Hughes, Souness and Redknapp as managers that have absolutely nothing, they have no distinctive style or method of player. They just turn up at clubs and get sacked.

If you want to go down that defensive route then do it properly, get a Dyche or a Mourinho and use a proper big-man up front.

England's next manager needs to be someone who'll play on the front foot, otherwise we'll waste another exciting crop of players just as Sven, Capello, McLaren and Hodgson did.

Southgate added: "Physically, it's been a tough period for Harry [Kane]. He came in short of games and didn't quite get up to the level we'd all hope. why the fuck start him then ffs

    Still

Despite the history that repeats over and over and over.

Not a single English manager to win the Premier league speaks volumes about our lack of understanding of this sport in modern times on this island - where the very sport was conceived.
On paper, player to player, team is at least equal if not better than spain if..... we go by club form etc.

thing is england can't play as a team

Bellingham and co was shite last night....

to be honest england have been average the whole of the euros, scraped through and very lucky moments, harry kane pen, bellingham worldie...... saka...... watkins..... towards end of the game. all mainly moments of player brilliance. or luck

Techincally I think we have the players, tactically we don't have the managers.
