If keeping him means he has to get, say, the Captaincy and mad wages in the £300k+ per-week range to keep him sweet (this is hypothetical, not stating that he has "demanded" this or anything) that potentially muck about our wage structure then I'd sigh, take a deep breath and get on with finding either a right-wing-back or a right-back with better work-rate and defensive capacity - and adapt to our pick accordingly.

As excellent as he is, it wouldn't (for me) be like taking peak-Gerrard out of the '07-'09 side or something. We'd find a way.
I'd be gutted to be truthful but what you say is true. He's not as integral as Gerrard,Suarez,VvD but it's the fact he's a homegrown talent and a massive one. He's an icon of the Klopp legacy.
The difficulty is despite how good he is where does he now fit? Bradley is clearly better defensively and there's always people saying he's kind of lost interest in that actual role.
I'll be really sad if he leaves though.

Don’t see how he is mentioned in the same breath as Luis or Stevie..?

Levels below Suarez for impact and quality - No other player in the Prem was at that level imo tbh - and miles behind Stevie too. He has been great in a system that was put together by a man who got more out of every player than any manager I ever saw.

Has only produced consistently in a side designed to give him the freedom that his limitations dictate - and that was with an array of WC talent in front and to the side of him.

Wand of a right foot - but to be genuinely top class you need much much more. Not the brightest spark at the forge either. Loves to talk to the media at the worst possible times. Klopp made him and frankly without Jurgen I see a player lacking belief.

Real can surround him with enough quality to cocoon him - question is - can we?

Yes would be sad to see a talent like that leave BUT after losing Jurgen - frankly it’s small scale

Is he automatically displacing Van Dijk, Quansah, or Konate the moment he comes in?

I'm not sure he 100% is and if we were bringing him in for an initial fee of £52m and alleged £175k-per-week he'd need to be way more than 4th choice for us.

In short, at the alleged figures (reserving judgement until these things are confirmed) we have "missed out" on, relatively speaking, nothing.

Yoro is a promising, talented player who MIGHT fulfil his potential - might. His arrival (if the figures are true) would almost certainly decimate the meritocratic "earn it with us and be rewarded for it" style of wage structure in one fell swoop and we'd have the likes of Quansah asking for parity.

If we are relying on Konate staying fit - we have an issue - Quansah is very inexperienced - he stepped up to the plate last term brilliantly but again IF we are dependent on these 2 - we are in huge trouble

Don't think we are in particularly big trouble in that area at all to be honest, relatively speaking.

Between Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah, Gomez, possibly Sepp staying and emergency options in Bajcetic (who has played back there at youth level) and Endo if desperately stretched, I'd say we're fine.

I'd still like a centre-back to join by the way - but not fretting one bit about us not buying an 18-year old for £52m.

I'd be much more worried for example about depth at right-wing-forward if Salah has any injury issues.

I'm very worried about the CB position. Virgil another year older. Relying on 2 injury prone CBs in gomez and Konate is a big risk. Then we have the young Quansah. I wanted a CB for the 1st team last year. We really need one this summer.

6⃣ Rodri continues to show the importance of boasting a genuinely world class player at the heart of your team

#LFC should learn a lesson from his success. They can't keep making do or waiting. They need to revisit their failed £100m transfer plan.

Thank fuck you're not the manager we'd never buy anyone because the team is perfect yes!!!!

    and never improve

maybe email FSG for a job if slot doesn't work out, you'll be perfect.

we might end up in 9th in 2 years like due to no money spent on squad but still, go for it, you really think that's enough at CB to keep up with the big boys? Oh great, wee little endo can cover at CB or bajetctic who's been out for a year that'll work out well against top strikers, not to mention gomez at CB for a long time it a scary though.....and Quansah is still a kid, not good enough to win anything if he had to start all the time...... yet.. ffs it's like you want us to go backwards

give your head a wobble at least you'll be happy when we come 4th this season, enjoy being in champions league while it lasts because the way FSG is going and others around us we won't be there much longer.

if VVD gets injured for a long time we're fucked his age now means "minor" injurys can take a while too, never mind salah, they both need to be improved.

I must have missed the bit where we signed 4 new midfielders last season...

Think Sid is right, i'd focus on the forward line before anything else.

Building a squad and transfers is like placing track whilst on the train. It's always an evolution.
