Fair point, but Slot could point to the fact that they didn't support him in the transfer market, if this season goes wrong?

Outside of that, we still need a long term cb. Last year we got lucky with quansah coming through. Konate gets too many injuries and Virgil is a year older, matip is gone and gomez shouldn't be near cb.

Oh why did you have to go and start talking sense..? In here of all places.

I say: Think title defence season minus Jurgen - a peak Mo, Mané & Bobby… Yes that’s about right …bolted onto the fact that Trent and Robbo are both finding it much harder to replicate the form they had when the fab 3 took 6 opposition players to manage.

Reckon that's a smart little move for him tbh....
I was hoping he'd stay and get games but a loan there would be good for him, probably won't get much time at all with the amount of forwards we have. If hes going to be good enough he'll stand out in that league. Fingers crossed.

    Why is that luck?

Trent playing in midfield probably doesnt help.

It was luck in that matip got a long term injury so we were down to 3 CBs. Quansah was given a go and thankfully stepped up and performed excellently for a young player.

If you think it was planned or knew he would perform like that, then fair enough. But for me, it was risky and it was a bit of luck that he came through when he did.l due to the matip injury. He wasn't on the radar anywhere that I'm aware of at the beginning of the season.

He was absolutely superb in nearly ever pre-season game last summer. Klopp & Co saw enough then that they could trust him if called upon during the season. He delivered mightily....

He did deliver. But I don't believe he was expected to play as much as he did. He became the 2nd choice cb due to his performances. Us not buying a cb last year, matip getting a long term injury and quansah performing as he did, was some luck, in my eyes.

Quansah wasn't even in the squad for the 1st 2 or 3 games until injuries occurred. Which most could see happening. It was a risk, it was OK, it was a bit of luck.

"Before this season, people told us we should buy a centre-half. We knew we had Jarell. Did we know that he would show up like this? Not exactly, but we were pretty hopeful. So the future’s bright. He is our own boy, calm on the ball, good in the challenges, quick, ruthless in the right moments."

Exactly, we got lucky. We were hopeful he would work out. But we were also hoping matip would stay injury free so we didn't need to use quansah as often.

We should have bought a cb last year, and I'm saying we need to buy one this year.

When Konate gets injured we are left with virgil and quansah. Virgil is older and might need reduced playing time as the season goes on, or he could pick up injuries himself due to age. Unless someone knows of another cb in the youths / reserves that we are hopeful will show up if needed?
