"In terms of build-up and how comfortable we are on the ball and how calm we have to be and play more as a team, not in a rush to attack, we want to have the ball and break teams down then that gives us a chance if we give the ball away to go and press."

"In the past it felt like a rush, a bit too direct, up and down up and down, he wants us to have all the ball and completely kill teams." - Curtis Jones

Great to get the beginning of our players talking about Slot's philosophy rather than analysis via punditry, YouTube vids etc.

I see Curtis' comments are being spun all ways in the media. Nice to see him smiling though.

It will be interesting to see who slots into the philosophy and who doesn't, there may be some surprises.

Just bought my Seville tickets, only £27 each.
Early opportunity to experience Slot ball at first hand.

He is making a key point imo - Klopp’s game was exciting to watch - so exciting in fact … but never at the very highest level. It’s not going to get you too many wins against the best sides in the biggest games. Relying too much on a very high tempo - tons of running and simply put - the outworking of opponents. It can be mesmerising when it clicks as it did so often. But it has its problems… That allied to FSG’s model - I call boom and bust. BUT Jurgen had little choice in that regard as he was never afforded the money or the opportunity to keep going for that class of player to get to the next level.

Sounds like Slot wants to try it out inside the model. Let’s see IF it can be done across 38 gruelling Premier league games.

    Agreed.

We can play short, but it needs to be quicker. When we've tried to play shorter over the last few years, we've tended to slow it down to a complete crawl and it was just painful!

I do think we have the players to play a more patient, shorter game. Virg, Macca, Jones, Elliot, Endo and Mo shouldn't have an issue with it. Some of the others might be a bit more hit/or miss at times.

Nice to see Slot on the pitch showing the players what he actually wants. Looks like he knew where the goal was as a player too.
