"shitting on the city"? Wow - you are quite desperate aren't you. Is it the mention of all those bathrooms your uncle has that's getting to you?

I love Liverpool and unlike you am deeply connected to the place...but I know what it is and what it isn't - unlike some.

Yea I get it - If you are from Huyton or Glasgow - that sounds good and they are ok areas despite being a little naff... But to a lad from San Sebastian - with eyes on Barcelona or the Capital... seriously - go to comparable areas outside those urban areas and see. There is literally NO comparison. Only London offers something that might attract their families on that score.

IF they come here - or to Manchester or to Newcastle - they come for the right manager - like a Jurgen Klopp... The one that inspires them on a career level... Then beyond that - it's the HUGE wages...

So.. once again - let's hope he really gets inspired by Slotball - because nobody coveted by Barca or Real comes to play in L4 because they want to live in Alderley Edge..

Despite the arm twisting and attempts to convince folks that this sad, grey, jingoistic little island is actually an eden - people from outside know.

Players aren't fleeing war zones this nation helped arm, fund and create.. they are stars with a choice. So without the money or the massive persona of a Klopp or the kudos of playing for Pep and both - WHY would you bring your wife and potentially children to this deeply divided island in the north Atlantic..?

Am I "shitting" on the nation.. NO - just telling it like it is. It's cold and wet and dark for too much of the year, the food is dreadful and the culture is being eroded daily in a race towards becoming the 51st state.

It's been like this ever since the money started pouring into the Premier League.

Look at the lads at Boro in the early 90's. They didn't sign up to play for the 'charasmatic' Bryan Robson... and not to be disrepectful to the denizens of Middlesbrough, but it is a far cry from the lights of Liverpool (Teesred will back me up on this one!).

99% of players are playing for money.

Yep.. that's the reality. It's why I believe Henry and co are bricking it now. Losing Klopp was effectively like almost everything. How does their model work now?

NO chance you sell the likes of Brewster Ibe or Solanke for what we did WITH a sell on clause unless he is leaving a club managed by Jurgen. I know we have a raft of forumites who believe that Edwards was the hero and all the data analytics was the key.. OK But again for me no chance we get close to Ł142,000,000 for Coutinho unless he is playing like a worldie for Jurgen Klopp.

Now we need to attract players and frankly - we don't have a strong hand.. not yet at least

Either way - IF we can land Zubi… we have done bloomin well and we would have to compliment whoever gets the deal done - not the easiest sell.

He isn’t going to make us the bestest in the world and the Premier league is pretty physical BUT next to Mac - that’s a very decent pairing and we should be far more capable of dictating games.

Yes… Only London offers the kind of lifestyle that could compete (it can’t really but some wives might think it can) with Barcelona or Madrid that’s WHY the likes of Caicedo and Lavia went to that shower DESPITE Klopp wanting them at a club that supposedly was doing so much better.

Now go and argue with yourself in the corner of whatever “sordid little grief hole” you call home 😜

All depends on your perspective on life. I go to London on a regular basis, usually around Chelsea/Fulham and I am always incredibly glad to get back home. I detest London with a passion.
