To be fair, players / managers tend to live on the Wirral (see Raffa) or the other way to the north, Formby (Gerrard, Jurgen) or Birkdale (Kenny and his generation) or even across into Cheshire mixing with Manc players in Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Halebarns etc etc. some fabulously wealthy mansions in all of those areas, well populated with good bars and eateries and yes, numerous overpriced boutiques to relieve their wags of plenty of their husband’s wonga.

Yea I get it - If you are from Huyton or Glasgow - that sounds good and they are ok areas despite being a little naff... But to a lad from San Sebastian - with eyes on Barcelona or the Capital... seriously - go to comparable areas outside those urban areas and see. There is literally NO comparison. Only London offers something that might attract their families on that score.

IF they come here - or to Manchester or to Newcastle - they come for the right manager - like a Jurgen Klopp... The one that inspires them on a career level... Then beyond that - it's the HUGE wages...

So.. once again - let's hope he really gets inspired by Slotball - because nobody coveted by Barca or Real comes to play in L4 because they want to live in Alderley Edge..

Despite the arm twisting and attempts to convince folks that this sad, grey, jingoistic little island is actually an eden - people from outside know.

Players aren't fleeing war zones this nation helped arm, fund and create.. they are stars with a choice. So without the money or the massive persona of a Klopp or the kudos of playing for Pep and both - WHY would you bring your wife and potentially children to this deeply divided island in the north Atlantic..?

Yep.. that's the reality. It's why I believe Henry and co are bricking it now. Losing Klopp was effectively like almost everything. How does their model work now?

NO chance you sell the likes of Brewster Ibe or Solanke for what we did WITH a sell on clause unless he is leaving a club managed by Jurgen. I know we have a raft of forumites who believe that Edwards was the hero and all the data analytics was the key.. OK But again for me no chance we get close to £142,000,000 for Coutinho unless he is playing like a worldie for Jurgen Klopp.

Either way - IF we can land Zubi… we have done bloomin well and we would have to compliment whoever gets the deal done - not the easiest sell.

He isn’t going to make us the bestest in the world and the Premier league is pretty physical BUT next to Mac - that’s a very decent pairing and we should be far more capable of dictating games.

All depends on your perspective on life. I go to London on a regular basis, usually around Chelsea/Fulham and I am always incredibly glad to get back home. I detest London with a passion.
