What is the injury that Bobby Clarke has? A back injury of some sort? How chronic?
I had high hopes for that lad. Hope he doesn't get sold.
Surely Slot has been informed of how good he is going to be, and already is.
I can understand the selling of Carvalho, as good as he is, he is not yet top four calibre and I am not sure if he ever will be.
Selling him for £20M +£7.5M with add-ons after only 13 appearances for us, is good business methinks. I know Fulham have their sell-on clause to be settled, but if the balance of £16M goes some way to help fund the Zubimendi purchase, so instead of paying £51M we effectively are only using £35M from this Summers Transfer budget this has to be seen as good business.
I can also see a World were Slot ends up selling other squad players who he doesn't really fancy, like Konate for £50M+ to fund further purchases, and ends up keeping Sep Van Der Berg rather than buying a direct replacement, given VDB’s supposed potential, better distribution and ball retention skills… I really prefer Konate if I am being honest, but who knows hey, we are entering a whole new World I guess…
I hope I'm wrong but that squad doesn't look enough to me. It's lacking top quality. We've lost a lot the last few years and it's telling now imo.
You'll win nothing with kids !!
In addition to the Carvalho sale, How much are we actually receiving from the Solanke transfer to Spurs £M ?
Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
Why has the potential sale of a young player who didn't feature for us last season caused such panic?
Something, Something, Something, Dark Side
Szoboslai in midfield is a worry for me. He's nowhere near good enough. Even if Zubimendi arrives ves I still think we are light on quality there, we have numbers yes but not quality.
I just think to bridge the gap on Arsenal and City we need at least two really good players.
That might yet happen so hopefully I'm wrong. I just think we are looking at a lot of "ifs". I like Quansah but I'm really not sure he's ready to be the long term answer and I've always been of the opinion that Konate is well overrated by our own fan base and that's without his fitness record.
I'm hopeful rather than optimistic for the new season. I hope I'm wrong so we'll see how it pans out.
There's a lot of expectation from some fans on youngsters. They very rarely pan out to be anything other than squad players at bigger clubs ImO. They're just bait for funds.
Sounds a grim outlook but just my opinion and how I'm currently seeing it. I'm seriously hoping that Slot isn't the fall guy for frugality, the "market value" bullshit from Hughes is not something we wanted to hear but something we pretty much knew was on the cards.
