Yep - also lets be thankful that Fergie only smashed the British Transfer record 5 times.. Had he done it more often we might have taken a title or 2 off him

Signing players is the new not signing players.

We'd defo be in the shyte had Slot managed to bag a number 6 and more defensive cover.. We'd be toast

    Lmao

And i do actually think chelsea have done better than utd, at least they make profit from players, utd don't... and have young players mostly that could become class...

Utd just go for washed up big names, or showboaters like Antony who did well in holland.. wow

Rather FSG spend more, keep the the rules obviously but i'm sure we're well below the FFP rules... and improve the squad, than not doing anything.

or at least sort the contract situation out otherwise we're fucked next season.
I agree about the contracts. Hopefully they get sorted soon.

The Utd spending figures back up my point. Big spending does not guarantee success. If only the F$G Out mob could understand that.

What sort of warped mind laughs at Utd for spending 600m and getting nowhere and then demand we do the same?

You don't get to dictate what areas of the squad need strengthening.

I'm not sure why you think we'd be the same as utd if we spent some money?

Other clubs do spend money & get it right, not all the time but still, we've not got it right all the time (Keita, Ox to a extent, etc) 35m on Ox, or 40m on Palmer 6 years later.. so take into account the inflation

Look at villa, last few seasons.

I said there are no guarantees. We might be the same or we might be different. Transfers for most clubs are hit and miss.

Arsenal are away to Tottenham and away to Man City very soon, with an Atalanta match sandwiched in the middle.

It'll be interesting to see how they negotiate that. Potential to be an early dent in their season, or the we-can-beat-anyone spell that can invigorate huge belief.

Whilst I don't particularly back Tottenham to beat them, there's still a not-so-ludicrous possibility of Arsenal being on 7 points at the end of that sequence of matches whilst Man City could be on 15 - even at this early a stage in the season, that would be a psychological gut punch.

    First up

    Southampton v Man Utd

Such a pity (no offence Saints) Utd have the perfect fixture when they desperately need a win. Away from the pressures of Opd Trafford and playing a team who are looking way short so far at the start of the new season.
Even a top half team would probably have done for them today, doubt very much that Southampton have wherewithal though.

Mainoo booked for handball while on the floor, which reminded me that despite our win at Old Trafford last week there were a couple of incidents which went pretty much unnoticed because we won easily anyway.

There was a deliberate handball which should have been a second yellow for a Utd player (can’t remember who)

And an absolutely stonewall penalty which wasn’t even looked at by VAR because the ref played advantage thinking it was outside the box.

Two incidents that went in Utd’s favour yet again, the anti Liverpool bias of PGMOL never wanes
