Bordeaux have announced the signing of former Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle forward Andy Carroll.

The 35-year-old joins the Championnat National 2 side following their relegation to the fourth tier due to bankruptcy this summer.

Carroll - who earned nine caps for England - has signed a four-year deal with Bordeaux and has the option to take up a coaching role at the club in the future.

They are almost a non league outfit these days - seems the dream of US ownership didn't work out so well for them.

'“I’m disgusted, sad and relieved all at the same time. It’s a good thing these clowns are leaving,” Christophe Dugarry, the former Bordeaux forward, told Sud Ouest.

“King Street... they came to enrich themselves off the back of the club and they’ve left with a simple press release.

“They had no sporting project. They only thought about the money they were going to earn with Mediapro. But all their decisions were wrong.”

Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United might be too big to fail, but the dangers of the American brand of ownership has been made amply apparent in France, where the profiteering of King Street threatens to bring down a once-great club.

Doesn't matter though - You won't see it publicised much - the narrative is all one way traffic. The lovely folk at F$G had a good look this summer to see IF they could grab themselves another steal... ALAS...this time - it was too late...

Yeah but decided against it as FSG would have had to put their own money in.

It was widely reported that it was a toss up between saving the historic French club or the renovation of JW’s 15th bathroom.

Sadly the new throne won.
