Indy has plenty of misses as well as hits, so wouldn't read much into it.

To be fair to Zubimendi, he did want to join us, had near-enough agreed to do so, then changed his mind upon reflection over his boyhood club, so if there is anything to it, I can understand some indecision. Gerrard was very tempted by joining Chelsea (and then less tempted by Inter and Real Madrid) so can understand a player back-and-forthing when they are attached to their boyhood club but have potential beyond what that club is likely to achieve.

There was some complacency behind the scenes in regards to offering Gerrard a new contract after the CL final. According to Gerrard's autobiography that made him wonder whether the club were considering cashing in on him whilst his value was high enough to be able to signigicantly strengthen the squad.
