Not saying he is not a good manager, but it is a bit of a gamble. Will he be a Slot or a Ten Hag?
van Nistelrooy is an unknown quantity, he might be great but they really can't afford to get it wrong again.

This comment on the BBC resonates:

"New manager bounce under Van Nistelrooy, a run of good results, he gets a permanent contract, there's a steep decline in his second season, he's gone by the following summer. I've seen this movie before and I'm sick of it. No point changing the manager unless we can get a really elite replacement."

But they had elite replacements, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Rangnick.... and they were still crap. Lol...

Mourinho wasn’t crap at United at all.

Outperformed all but City but the spoilt brat fans wanted instant Jose miracle. There was talk of style of play - they didn’t like him - he had more charisma than the surly red noses scot & his persona grated with Fergies clan.. many of whom who still held sway with the players and agents - who mostly fell out with him - they and media hounded him out. Good job too

It’s been a retirement home ever since

I don't even think Van Gaal was THAT bad.

Sure, in terms of style of play they were an awful watch, but in his 2 seasons they finished 4th (14/14) and 5th (15/16) and that 5th spot came as a result of goal difference - Man City finished 4th that season ans both Manc clubs had 66 points - and he also won an FA Cup.

Goal difference away from 2 seasons on the spin of Champion's League qualification really isn't all that dreadful - but obviously it wasn't Fergie levels of success and was a rough watch, so off he went.

I promise you - we have much to thank Fergy for. He was never having Jose.

No way he wanted a bigger persona than he to take the adoration.

sabotage from within. The man is never more silent and content than when they are nowhere. Remember Jose’s Eratage (Heritage) rant… That was all sown & planted by whiskey nose and his mob. That was where they were coming for him. Jose knew it too.

People are often too busy thinking one way to see the obvious.

People mostly fail to see these things - they don’t read beyond what the man says to the camera. Unable to think outside the world they have constructed. What they say to the camera has multiple meanings AND is - more often than not - hugely diluted.

    It shouldn’t need explaining… BUT:
Jose is not only talking to the fans and the media…he is letting the clan know that he knows.

"the ones you speak with - the ones I speak with" "Or I am very lucky and you are very unlucky".

And it's 'Eritidge' more often than 'Eratage'... my mistake Jose apologies

I had to laugh at Mourinho mischievously suggesting he could still win the title with Man Utd if Citeh are stripped of points. Even better, he said "they'd have to pay me the bonus" Lmfao

Jose's win percentage at Man Utd is the highest after Fergie, just ahead of 3rd place Ten Hag.

Yep they leapfrogged Klopp's Liverpool - from 6th to 2nd and 81 points - after winning the League Cup and the Europa League & qualifying for the Champions league in the process.

His win percentage was very good 57 % for 2016/17 and 66% for 2017/18 - streets ahead of Klopp's over the same period in charge... then the knives came out and it was massively dented as players downed tools.

It was impossible for him. No way he could ever call out Fergie for doing his best to thwart him - do that and he loses the support of every single United fan.

IMO this is why Fergie is all but being banished. His presence makes the job totally impossible
