I have read lots of column inches and watched lots of you tube vids commenting on the Arsenal game, some I agree with some not, which tbf is the norm.
The most controversial moment, namely the foul on Szobo, which ultimately denied Arsenal a winning goal, was I have to agree very soft, and if that had happened to us and denied us a victory, I would feel equally aggrieved. Saying that, I do think in that incident Havertz coearly used his arm to initially knock the ball over Kelleher and then barged Trent when he tried to clear the ball, so I imagine the disallowed goal, would have been denied by VAR anyway.
However, having said that, I have to say it really makes me laugh the level of anger towards this soft free kick… we all watch games every week, with free kicks being given for little or no contact by Referees who seem to believe that if a player cries like a girl and falls over clutching either his leg or face, he simply has to blow his whistle and award a foul, regardless of the fact if it was actually a foul in the first place. In fact I think the free kick Arsenal scored from, was an equally soft free kick… so it really is a case of swings and roundabouts.
Arsenal, I’m afraid were guilty of these Dark Arts from start to finish, I think in fact Gabriel’s injury was actually caused by himself when earlier in the game he dived to the floor to gain a foul when Nunez tried to close him down but didn't even make contact with him… so I am afraid if you want to play by the sword, you will ultimately die by the sword… so I have little or no sympathy with them..
Especially when last year Havertz’s blatant shithousery got Konate sent off at Arsenal, and they also conveniently forget the blatant Odegard handball at Anfield last season… also not forgetting Arteta’s fucking laughable comments about Referees, after the famous Diaz incident at Spurs last season.
Hey ho..rant over
