There are numerous forwards plying their trade around Europe’s top 5 leagues who couldn’t fill a highlight reel like that in two full seasons or more, that is Mo til the end of November this season. Give him one season then ffs and see how he is this time next year … rinse & repeat.

It's genuinely getting a worry now and it really looks bad on the club. I'm sure there's stuff going on we have no idea about but its definitely leaving the club in a poor light.

A one season extension is a waste of time. We'll be back in the exact same position in a few months time.

Offer him a 2 or 3 year contract based on performance metrics. If he continues to perform well he rakes in the money. If his performances start to decline he makes less money and we can move him on after a season or two.

All of that depends on his demands. If they are too high, we'll have to let him go.

I'd likely be content enough to have Salah sign up for 3 extra years on his current terms. I can also totally understand the club thinking that two may be more appropriate due to future risk-management.

For all we know Salah wants 3 years AND a pay-rise, whereas the club may be willing to offer one of those things, but not both.

I find myself reasonably relaxed about it.

Looking at the press releases, it seems Salah really wants a 1 year extension so he can keep his options open.

The Saudis offered 150 mill to lfc last summer iirc for Mo, he'd rather have that as a signing on bonus than see the club get it instead. Who can blame him.
