Yep… I was worried about that clash late on but seemed to be ok. Was guilty of a few wayward passes which he apologised for early on that could have caused us some bother - but imperious for majority of the game.

I'd be really surprised if we did.
Loan maybe - at a serious push - but we have four lads on the books, not counting any youth players.
Appreciate that we have had injury wobbles in the past and that fans can be a little burnt by that, but if Gomez is a hamstring you would think it's maybe 6 weeks out, with Konate probably being back within the next 3 weeks.
I could see a match or two in January where we use an emergency option such as Gravenberch, Endo or a youth player in the back line where we feel we can get away with it and given that we have a cushion, that's fine by me.

It would be nice if one of the “we need a new CB in January” people would explain which of the current CBs they intend to replace.

Do they have to replace any of them, right now? A better cb option gives a chance to rest virgil more and blood in the new guy for when virgils playing time reduces even more.
I don't see us signing a cb by the way. But I have wanted a better option then gomez for a while now. Virgil has maybe 2 years at top level left? Will he even be here next year?

Can't speak for others, but the general consensus I hear from people I chat to is to either -
- Replace Quansah with a higher quality option so we (if we use Badé as an example) something like Van Dijk/Konate/Badé/Gomez as our four (whether they want to sell Quansah or loan him seems to vary) OR
- Replace Gomez (27) with a younger option (will use Badé, 24, as an example again) so that a few years from now we have a centre-back pairing entering prime years, with a further-developed Quansah behind them ahead of Van Dijk's departure at the end of, let's say, the 27/28 season.

If they’re going to come into the squad in Jan then yes, they need to replace someone. I’m still not clear on what you’re asking for. There’s a world of difference between a better 3rd choice than Gomez and someone to replace VVD.

I don’t think a better 3rd or 4th choice CB is our priority. And we have the best defensive partnership in the league in VVD and Konate. So again, it would be nice if one of these people demanding a CB in Jan could explain their reasoning.

Why do they have to replace anyone straight away? Gakpo came in January and didnt replace anyone initially. Diaz came in January and didn't replace anyone initially.
I understand what your saying about the difference in quality between gomez and virgil but what's wrong with future planning? Get them in now, use them for more rotation and let them get up to speed in the last 5 months of this season.
We need a cb at some point, whether it's january or the summer, I still think we need one. As I said though, I don't expect us to sign one this January.

I agree it's not a pressing priority either.
I'd love one more really quality mid in and I think we could comfortably part with Morton and Endo (not in January!!!!) if someone good was coming.
