It's less about the number of injuries and more about who gets injured. Numbers matter but that's why we have a squad. Injuries to key players would have a far greater impact but that's the same for every team.

    Jokes and general Shill-baiting aside

Last season was our 3rd in 4 where we suffered an injury crisis. The only season since winning the title where we didn’t - and we almost won a quad.

Should shed some light on to the miracle working magic of Jurgen Klopp and how - with just a small amount more backing things might have been significantly better still.

Even last season, despite a major injury crisis we were still talking about a Quad and going deep on all four fronts, unfortunately when our injured star players finally returned towards the back end of the season, their form and ability to score deserted them, despite chance after chance, and in truth it was this, and some extremely dodgy refereeing in key matches against our nearest rivals that cost us dear …

Everyone agrees that the backing Klopp received was a fucking disgrace, and he deserved so much better, I would love to understand why FSG thought this was a good idea to clip Klopp’s wings when he clearly needed help.

It’s just baffling on every level, but despite this Klopp still managed pass on to Arne Slott the best squad he ever had, yes it could be argued we have had a better / more effective starting 11, but in terms of squad its just unfortunate for Klopp that he ran out of steam just as he had created the best squad of his tenure…

As good as AS has been, and he has been brilliant by the way, he has benefitted massively from the new squad being together for over 12 months now and they have all clearly blossomed with this added time together coupled a fresh voice, not to mention the much discussed tweaks of tactics and player deployment, namely Gravenberch, Macca and Szobo…

So far so fucking good, c’mon lets fucking do this …

I'm pretty sure Klopp said he was happy with his backing at LFC. When he first joined he also said that he didn't understand the clamour in England for constant transfers. We can take him at his word or just ignore him and spew.

Some “spew” from the big man himself.

    January 2021

“I cannot decide if we do something in the transfer market or not, that must be clear,” said the Reds boss at a press conference on Friday.

“Of course somebody else is making the decisions. It was always like this. If people are surprised by that now, I can’t help them.

“We discuss the situation pretty much on a daily basis. We think about ‘could we improve something or not?’ and I make recommendations, stuff like this.

“But I cannot spend the money. That’s not how it is. I don’t make these decisions, and I never did.”

    August 2022

“I realise it was always like this. Is it always easy? No. Do we discuss these kinds of things in public? Of course not! Why would we?
“And we won’t start now with it.
“Let me say it like this; from time to time I would be ready to risk a bit more. But, how I said, I don’t decide that. It’s fine.

That’s from the super loyal - never go public - Brilliant Jurgen Klopp.

When you factor his own words in and look at the puny backing he had for the success his teams achieved and are still achieving - you know what he would tell you off the record

    100%.

"It’s just baffling on every level," From my perspective it isn't that baffling. I have maintained that the sweet spot for FSG is to be competing NOT actually winning the big prizes. Winning means bonus payments & salary hikes & MORE expectation to go again in the market. The model that attracted the Boston moneymen was the post success Wenger years at Arsenal. They knew the global fan base was order of magnitude bigger too. Qualify in CL positions and have a semi go at a title some seasons without the expectation to actually win. That's the cash cow for the US owner looking to profit. In wake of our title win - what was it that drove them on..? Consolidate? Naah Thoughts of a closed shop league were all that consumed them. THIS is their only real interest - the money. It's not right - but it's ok.

So Slot is in a similar situation to Jurgen. Far easier - in the short term....for now because Klopp's second side was already built and in situ - having outperformed expectations last term.

Let's hope we can get over the line... Long long way to go yet and these sodding contracts are not helping

Klopp conducted himself with absolute class, passion, integrity and honesty.. but he was also very diplomatic when required, he was nobody's fool, many tried but few succeeded in baiting Klopp to rant publicly about FSG’s lack of support in the Transfer market compared to his nearest rivals, those comments if he made any, were I am sure made behind closed doors and certainly not in public, like I say one very classy guy.. we were blessed to have his like as our Manager, absolute fucking LEGEND…
