I wouldnt touch Zubimendi with a 10ft barge pole now.. not after his antics and giving the impression he wanted to join us..
He burned his bridges with us

He did exactly what we want Trent to do though.
There were no antics about it, he didn't want to leave his hometown club etc. Sounds like he may have regretted it but his actions at the time were actually admirable.
I didn't think we would go back for him anyway.

He apparently made it more clearer than Trent. No one knows what Trent wants thats the issue..

These "bits and pieces" of business are definitely a worthwhile endeavour. You don't take your eye off the 23-26 year old market of course, but it adds up.
Where are all these players now, and how much have they played for and added to our typical match day squad? The Answer is they are all either out on loan, down the bottom of the current squad pecking order, or a bench player who may well also be on his way.

Why was that then? Put everything you have on it. Could it be the same doubt about the ambition of the club that 3 of our current stars are intimating while stalling on contracts?

See - being top of the leagues with Klopps squad at mid season doesn't really count when 3 of the stallers are so instrumental to those standings.. Let's hope the owners however greedy they are show more long term thinking than some of the posters in here.

The likes of Elliott for example, if sold, could cover the cost of all those acquisitions. I'm not suggesting we necessarily do so, but "creating" these players via recruiting early and developing them is useful. Nevermind the cost of the others, we could (could mind you, again, not pushing for it) sell a lad like Elliott and potentially get as much financially (or more) as we would for a Mac Allister or a Gravenberch.

Acquiring low-risk, inexpensive players with high potential is a part of recruitment.

I am not suggesting it should be our only recruitment, but do acknowledge (and indeed endorse) us chipping away at this side of things.

Lads like Nyoni, Ngumoha and Bajcetic may well play a part for us, be it via a sale that leads to further recruitment, or by contributing to the squad.

Always chase marginal gains - always. They won't all work out - of course they won't - but you plug away at it and you get a first-teamer in time, or the sale of a Raheem Sterling to reinvest further into your squad.

"Acquiring low-risk, inexpensive players with high potential is a part of recruitment." It's part of being a landlord too..

Sweet lord - it's probably where many draw the line.. "chipping away" "recruitment" "Always chase marginal gains - always"

Fook me Sid you sure know how to reduce the sport to venture capital jargon.

Imagine a stadium full to the rafters of people determined to "plug away at it". Singing about wise re-investment...
