Agree. We've had chances to put a pretty much uncatchable distance there but blown them. It often plays out that way.
Last year the chance was there and nothing happened. This season to me feels like a "one shot" type of season. It's there for the taking and a chance like this probably won't come around again. It'll be incredibly sad and another bitter pill if this chance is squandered through not bringing in some much needed reinforcement.

I'm sure the Arses will drop more points. Main source of goals at the moment are from set pieces. Cant believe teams still getting done by the same corner routine.

Word on the street is, we're currently leading the race to sign highly-rated Cherries LB, Milos Kerkez, as he apparently prefers a move to us rather than the Mancs (who are the other major suitors vying for his signature).
On paper, it would seem to make sense for both parties.
We need to find a long-term replacement for Robbo - and this season has accentuated that necessity more accutely with Robertson's many struggles as the season has wore on.
And he seems to fit FSG's profile of players to bring in, being only 21 and the right age that they like to bring in players to give them the opportunity for a sell-on later in his career if needs be.
On his end, it would be a no-brainer choice between ourselves and the Mancs - with Champions League football guaranteed, and our future looking a lot brighter with Slot's quick start establishing himself as Klopp's replacement - and despite the Manc's looking like they might have finally solved that manager's position quandry with Amorim.
Additionally, he'll likely get to make the starting position at LB his own, if he can quickly establish himself over Tsimikas as the preferred starter and from what little I've seen of him, he seems to fit the system that Slot is trying to establish with us.
As a bonus he'll get to play with his national team captain in Szobo, so that's always nice.
Maybe Michael Hughes finally begins to justify his position in the club after a couple of now (so-far) disastrous transfer windows in terms of not having been able to bring anyone in or get any much-needed extensions done - or even sold anyone to bring in some sales revenue.
It would really be a real big bonus if he can play both flanks ofthe fullback position and help us kill two birds with one stone with a possible Trent exit, but I doubt it.
That would only leave the CB position, the 6 and a reliable striker (the 9) (and a RB replacement for Trent, too) as needing to get dealt with.
I hope any of these potential deals aren't being held up by the club's need to sell someone like a Nunez first before we can bring in any new signings, but knowing how FSG work, that's probably exactly the reason we haven't seen any trading and dealing so far.
I hope Edwards (who apparently is seeing to that potential sale to Al-Hilal himself) is able to get a deal done on that front soon-ish.
Personally, I think the club should bite Al-Hilal's hand off, take that 70 Mill and run.
Apparently, it looks like they haven't been watching our games when Darwin has been playing.
No way I'd offer anything more than 40 Million at most for him.
There's another deal that would work great both for the player and for us.
He'd get the chance to burnish his reputation away from the harsh spotlight of the Premier league, and worst case scenario, he's still making more money than Mo ever earned with us or would ever earn with us, and with his age, if he stays there for 3-4 years, he'd be a gajillionaire by the time he finishes his playing the career with enough money to buy out a couple of small clubs in Uruguay and become an owner himself if he so chooses.
I read that Ronaldo's deal for 200 Million a year was just extended for another couple of years.

There are upgrades needed in time, for sure. I'd certainly upgrade a couple this Summer. I don't think we need business in January, others disagree - and what will be will be. I think we have enough, may well be proved wrong.
Use of subs is absolutely a part of rotation. Ideally there will be games where Slot makes brave calls and utilises certain lads from the start more often as part of it - Gomez when back, Bradley, Tsimikas, Quansah and particularly Endo all have their qualities for me. I don't recall saying Milner was a "bit-part" (I can't scroll back on mobile to see beyond a few posts, so I may well have done) exactly, but if I did I will have meant in the sense of being someone who can cover multiple positions, not as in 20th-25th in a 25-man squad, which would indeed be bit-part in that sense - just to clarify any possible misunderstanding.
See - I like to give the benefit of the doubt and thus will assume it isn't your deliberate intention to be so - but that comes across really dismissive.
I have explained a lot of times that I cannot go to games. Thousands of Reds worldwide can't, for varying reasons - mental health, physical incapacity, financial disparities and so on - are we to say that they are all "kidding themselves" by having opinions as well? Or is that exclusively reserved for me?

If you actually read everything I have said there - and you are honest with yourself.
You won’t need to pick that wound you are aggravating.
And I AM dismissive of what you keep pushing about the club - it’s operations and the players we have and are short of.
You can’t keep having a pop and then hiding behind your mental health excuses for not going to see a game. It’s fine that you don’t go - but then perhaps give those that do some credit instead of continually making excuses for the lack of options we have at a time when the club has record revenues off the back off fleecing its fans.
