It is replacing Matip. Giving us a 25 man squad

We’ve improved a great deal in this respect now, still a lot of room for improvement you can always improve & evolve

Arne seems to have finally married his passing style with Jurgen’s pressing counter pressing, setting traps instead of dropping right off mixing it up & being direct when it’s on to be in the second half of the season

Fine work so far & still always plenty of room for improvement

If he keeps building on this which I expect him to we’re going to be some side

Be interesting to see if Slot has an eye for a genuinely top level player, as the previous regime did. We didn’t make many mistakes under Klopp, the midfield rebuild was bloody masterful, whoever was responsible.
MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch and Endo cost roughly the same as Declan Rice.

Good point. I think it's fair to say though that Grav has flourished under Slot due to how he's being used. Obviously credit to Jürgen too for picking him out.
Szobo is an outstanding player now who's integral. Just shows that sometimes players just need time to settle. A steal at 60m or whatever it was.

Like Kev says, it's going to be an interesting summer.

    Wasn’t Austen Powers - that’s for sure

They cost a bit more - but still excellent business overall.

    Rice was reported as £105m.

    - Szoboszlai at £60m.
    - Gravenberch £35m-£40m depending on which reports you believe.
    - Mac Allister an initial £35m but rising to £55m with add-ons.
    - Endo was £16m.

So at the upper end of the reported fees and add-ons it becomes £171m - but I still think that represents really good value given that 3-of-4 of them are absolutely excellent, whilst Endo is still a "useful" player that I would rather have than not for impacting game states.

I'm curious to see if we target a "unit" of the side next (we largely addressed midfield, so might look at the defensive unit or the attack) for future-proofing or if we simply target players in areas that we deem to be the weakest individually filled roles in the side.

Who's Austen Powers? Hughes or Edwards? If Edwards, did he not have a large part in bringing in the likes of Mo, Van Dijk, Ali et al?

Whether Mo and VVD sign up for another couple of years or not, they will need replacing.

The homegrown element also needs to be taken into consideration if the likes of Elliot and Kelleher and perhaps Gomez are moved on.

It looks like Slot has pretty much made his mind up on most of the squad. Think Elliot, Chiesa, Nunez and Endo will all be for the chopping block.

Gomez and one of Robbo and Tsimikas likely.

Kellerher will be moved on for the Georgian.

And then we have the small matter of Mo, Virg and Trent.

A big summer coming up indeed!
