Fingers crossed we can go on a bit of a winning run again.

    Man-city-Liverpool 3
    Liverpool-Newcastle 3
    Liverpool Southampton 3
    Liverpool Everton
    Fulham-Liverpool
    Liverpool-West-ham

I fancy us to beat the Bitters at home.. Fulham maybe difficult. but west-ham should be easier of the fixtures

Aye fancy us to beat them too. I'm hoping they'll be fired up after that carry on a few weeks ago.

We are almost there,,, Arsenal just never made it a race, the gap remained, when we dropped points they didn't capitalize and now the gap has grown rapidly since our Villa draw

Well if we blow it from here, in the words of the late Brian Clough...We'd 'want bloody shooting!'...

was arsenal ever even that close?

    Did they REALLY challenge us?

Not much of a title challenge just because they're 2nd

Arsenal have always been the main threat and they seemed to believe it was to be their season (stay humble!) but in my memory we have always had a lead of about 6 points (I think Sid posted our lead each month in another thread) and a bored media started talking about us being crowned us champions as far back as November, but then a few weeks into the new year Arsenal were right back in it thumping Man City 5-1 in a statement win from where they were going to "hunt us down" (and have been pretty unimpressive ever since)

Usually when I look at the league tables in other countries and see a team leading by 10+ points I think that must be a shit league but on this occasion I think it's down to us being so relentlessly good in the best league in the world obviously!

I definitely think there's an element of truth to what Carragher said a few months ago. You finish second and almost just assume the next step will be winning it. Liverpool fell into that trap in 02 and 09 I think after finishing second.
Arsenal haven't recruited well enough nor have their performances been good enough throughout the season. They were 9 points adrift after 13 games. They've got no excuses imo.
Its really funny how what we have done this season is constantly being denigrated by some. We're on course to get between 85-90 points and have lost just once ( at the moment obviously).
If we do win the title with a points haul in that bracket it's nothing short of outstanding and people can try and tear strips off it all they want. It won't matter a jot to any Liverpool fan, in fact it'll make it sweeter.

The 9 points clear after 13 games is a great stat especially since the talk has moved to Arsenal's injuries.

Well yes - this is absolutely true - and something I have consistently used against Arsenal fans who want to claim we are lucky. Injuries are part of the game. Last year they had the fortune.

At this stage last season we had 12 seniors out injured. Count them…12!!! Something almost never mentioned by the media or rival fans.

Any claim that they are suffering an unprecedented crisis is well wide of the mark. They have lost their senior front line - kind of like a reverse of our title defence season. They have been unlucky with injuries no argument - but it’s only a year since we were totally smashed by them - far worse imo plus Klopp’s announcement AND Salah was away at the AFCON. So our excuses for last season are more worthy than theirs are for this one. Both are immaterial tho.

The biggest factor this season - obviously - being City and their slump.

That’s said - Arsenal have a very good side - we do too. How much of it remains after the summer is anyone’s guess.

Regardless - I fully expected Arsenal to finish higher than us this season. Even at the new year - I felt their squad was the stronger and would probably overtake us.

Again we have coped better and not seemingly suffered the fatigue of other seasons. On the flip side - Arsenal haven’t coped well. They still have decent forward options available and all other areas in tact. So far they haven’t been able to get nearly enough points for any challenge.

    Hopefully it continues.
