Do you or anybody you know have insurance? If you/they do, I bet there are some kinds of insurance that you/they have never had to make a claim on. With that being the case why do you/they bother? Nothing bad has happened, so why bother having any insurance at all?

The issue is about what can happen, or maybe even what has previously happened. It would be foolhardy to dismiss what could happen, especially if the consequences could be dramatic, and it would be beyond negligent and utterly stupid if you had previous issues where you would have benefited from having insurance, but you still think "Nah, I won't bother. Everything is fine" just like that meme of a dog sitting at a table whilst his house burns around him.
Errrr not really the same is it?
We have insurance of sorts, that's why we have 22 players. Having none would just mean we play with 11 and hope for the best. Buildings insurance is a legal requirement too so another way your argument is just folly.
Not really the flex you thought it was.

You're talking about having insurance for three of the best players in history. Like buying a ming vase and buying a second one to keep in the loft incase the first one gets broken. You can only mitigate to a point and prior to Gomez ( another player like Kelleher who could get first team elsewhere so will be leaving) getting injured we had one of if not the best back up CB in the league but injuries are part and parcel of the game. The club wanted Yoro but didn't get him, that's another argument so you deal with what you have.

We could for instance buy someone like Bowen as cover for Salah, pay 100m or so but someone who's already a very good player isn't coming to Liverpool to play 2 out of 10 games. It's just not realistic and no squad in the world aside from Real or maybe the team we played last night can do it and the reasons why they can are obvious.
City have dropped off not only because they lost Rodri but because the man who frequently pulled them out of situations ( Kevin De Byrne) is now done. They've never had any form of replacement for him because he's another one of the GOAT players.

We are currently 15 points clear, if we win the league and possibly the league cup are you going to be on here moaning about the squad?
If you do not only will you look a complete fool but you'll like a spoilt entitled child to boot.

Good points tees but even if/when we win this title it will have been pretty clear that the squad isn’t up to fighting on more than one major front,

Our strongest 11 just got taken out at the first hurdle despite one of the greatest goal keeping performances in history.

We don’t have a deep enough squad for this - the manager himself highlights this every week with his relentless selections.

The FA cup yet more evidence. He bummed it off.

Basically I can see both sides of what you and RedMagic are saying. Agree with you on the insurance comparison but on the squad - you yourself know we are short. You yourself know the FSG have stiffed us.

We have the best part of a very good squad left to us by Klopp - it’s short of key options at DM - no genuine first choice level left backs - at all.. Robbo brave but legs when more than a year ago. No genuine reliable cover for Virgil/Konate. A borderline sick note in Jota & chaos up top..

The league is almost done and you know Newcastle will find a way to lose the carabao
The weekend game on a big Wembley pitch will be a challenge, but if (if!) we do win, then we can have a very positive end to the season. A League and a Domestic Cup is a combo that most would snatch your hand off for at the start of any season, given how deprived we have been in the '90s, 00's and '10s for League titles. Collective mood will be low today on account of having gone out, but all the lads can do it rest, recover and focus. Make damn sure they win at the weekend - do that and the rest of the season can essentially be one long party unless we have the most spectacular 9-game collapse of all time.

Really disappointed we couldn't do the business last night. I'm actually not remotely arsed about the penalties as I had mentally accepted we would lose if it got that far. Donnarumma has an excellent record with pens and Alisson is no Reina in a shout-out, which is "fine" in the sense that hoping for the World's best keeper to be a penalty specialist AS WELL as being so phenomenal in so many other departments just feels a ridiculous expectation. Whenever someone has a pen against Alisson, I don't have that same ".....might save this" feeling that I did with Reina or do with Kelleher - is what it is.

    Disappointment comes more from -

    - Not being able to play better in the first leg
    - Failing to score first in the second leg
    - Failing to score at all in the second leg
    - Being second to nearly every loose ball in the second leg to a cushion-biting degree
    - Sloppiness with attacking passes in the first leg (Salah was particularly poor that night, but can't complain about his overall season, so whatever)
    - Sloppiness with passes in midfield in both legs
    - Continued inability to take advantage of corners given some of our taller players
    - Team set-up
    - Sub choices in the second leg
    - A lack of rotation (Chiesa, Endo, Elliott, Quansah) in the League since getting a comfortable cushion on Arsenal to facilitate fresher legs

Still - we move. Probably my biggest disappointment is not crafting more chances in the second half last night, especially during after the spell where we were getting on top. In over 210 minutes of football over the two legs, PSG, despite outperforming us (and credit where due, they did) were always level or behind in the tie - it would have only taken that one bloody goal. I think I'd almost rather have been beaten 3-0 on aggregate by them than see us go out in a way where one attacking situation right at the end could make someone a hero - deflected shot from Endo, header from a corner from Jones, whatever.

Oh well. Less heart-breaking than maybe reaching the semi-finals and getting beaten by Real Madrid again if it had panned out that way.

Still two trophies to play for. We realistically have one hand on the one we covet most and we can shed the donkey of having someone else have more League titles than us, whilst also having the possibility to be the first side into double digits for League Cup wins if we can do the business on Sunday - less congestion in the fixture list for our League challenge too. Very disappointed with last night, but it isn't "season over" by any stretch.

PSG were superb. They have a proper manager and a talented united squad. I feel they were able to press high against us as our front three were not dangerous enough. Mo was kept quiet for the guts of 210 mins of football. It was a pity Gapko wasn't fully match fit. We have a problem at 9. Crying out for a consistent class player there

Absolutely they have stiffed us on the squad. We needed additions but like I said regarding Yoro it's another argument.
Slot can only work with what he's given and the main point I'm trying to make is that it's been excellent upto now and beyond anything any of us expected.
The squad will be improved in the summer I think, some players will go and they'll be replaced by ones Slot wants, next season we possibly see more improvement, if this season is him making the best of what he's got ( which like you say is a good squad left by Klopp) then hopefully there's more to come when he's got his own stamp on things.

At this point in time these are peak moments in a season, being top by a good stretch, a cup final and edged out in a fantastic game between two excellent teams. Nothing won yet but it's exciting.

Christ, so we have. I am stuck in the "if we beat Chelsea" narrative from last season Ta!

Highlights what happens when Mo Salah is stopped. frankly last week the only way we score is with them piling forward to nick a goal and leaving Salah’ vacated side wide open. Salah doubled up on left plenty of room for others last night - tho Diaz was well marshalled he did pretty well but we just weren’t capable - even at home against a top side.

They had the better stats again last night despite the narrative. Better side just have to take it
