Our best talent outside of Salah... A level or 2 above Gakpo. Yes the eyes glancing at Barcelona are not the most palatable.. But if we lose him and Salah.. Gakpo - Jota - Nunez leaves us in a right pickle..

Selling Diaz would bring in more money - despite him being 28 - than selling Cody.. but you lose a better player.

    Not an easy one

I think we've had Diaz's best years. And if we get a mad money offer from Barca, I think it has to be considrered.

Diaz at his best is far better player than Gakpo, however, we've not seen Diaz's best for a few seasons now.

And I like Gakpo. He's 'effective' without being particularly great at anything. I like the fact that he's not affraid to have go at goal.

I'm not overly worried about FSG stumping up the funds needed to replace anybody leaving, they've (on the most part) reinvested money generated from outgoing transfers.

My worry is who is available to replace the outgoing players, but this is mainly due to me watching far less football than I used to, so i am not on top of who the 'talent' is outside of the Premier League and the top Euro clubs.

My fear is tempered by the fact that we have scouted very well over the last 10 years. You can count on one hand the number of absolute stinkers we've had over the years. I'm sure there will be one or two signings that will raise an eyebrow...

Who would be everyone's choice of signings assuming we need the following

    RB - (to replace TTA)
LB - (to replace either Robbo or Tsimi)
CB(s) - (to possibly replace VVD, Konate, Gomez, Quansah)
CM(s) - (to possibly replace Elliot and upgrade on Endo)
    RW - (to replace Mo)
    LW - (to replace Diaz)
    ST - (to replace Nunez)

Possible - True to say Diaz has never really regained what he. showed us before that knee injury.

Scary list of players to replace there. Fingers crossed

Is that "dissing" where you come from? Because in the English language it is not. There is no disrespect mentioned or intended at all towards Gakpo in stating what is pretty clear to most.

Clear to the manager who will try to change his entire formation to accommodate Diaz including switching him to CF..

And clear by his higher valuation despite being older.

Gakpo is a very good player, but he isn't at Diaz level. Are we not allowed to say that without being accused of disrespect? How would you converse on a forum if not?

I would be inclined to keep Diaz as he has quality. He lacks end product but we're not in a strong position now to say we can get rid of players of quality. I would hope that we can keep hold of a lot of the squad if we could get Virgil and Mo to stay for another year. We defo need to add at least one quality player to our attack, preferably two of course. One to defense is imperative as well (really two needed as well). Midfield is not too bad but we need better back-up especially for Grav.

Edit: having said that, if we got 100m for Diaz bite their hand off!

    Who says?

I think gakpo is just as good, not as flashy but finds the net and more end product.

Let's not forget Jota and Diaz have scored one, all year so far... that's what counts in end of the day and that was early january

yes diaz has one goal more, luckily at start of season he scored 5

I like diaz as a player, even though the end product lacks, and does a lot of the hard work and ends up being nothing, however I don't think he's better than gakpo, different sort of players, i think they're equal good players, but not top top players. Only jota in the past when not injured was considered that apart from salah in my eyes, and that wasn't for long which is a shame

Still even now, top tier players VVD allison Salah --- this needs to be added too. especially as wrong side of 30 and contract situation...

We've got plenty of "top" players rest of the first team and forwards.

Average pretty much most of the bench, apart from uptop.

In a ideal world, a few of the average would be replaced with "good" and top at least one replaced with "top tier"

I really wish I could say the future is looking bright, but it really isn't at the moment, that's why we need to enjoy this title and celebrate like lunatics when we win because who knows when the next one will be

That’s fine - it’s all subjective and we all have opinions… this is surely the place to post them too.
