You get wet over players with skills and dribble who doesn't it's always good to see, so I can see why you like or rate Diaz more, but the bigger picture- is there much between them? in recent times?

Why do you think he's better? it's your opinion i'm asking for.

can we just buy psgs front 3? or maybe a few players that was on the bench for them? simple right and we can buy one of there top young midfielder too- there's plenty to pick from to replace endo

Why is he better..? Well for me - he’s a finer technician… he has much better ball control, quicker feet, is far better in tight areas - more nimble and in much much harder to contain. Gakpo on the other hand is a big lad with a powerful strike.

Watch the video I posted - see what you think… We actually don’t have anyone else who can do what he does. Barcelona generally go for top quality players. Gakpo is decent but top sides will nullify him far more easily imo

If it came down to it I'd rather keep Gakpo than Diaz. I think Gakpo has kicked on this year and will get better, agree with Jozza saying we've probably seen the best of Diaz. He has been great in spells but when he drops off he really drops off.
His decision making has always been his Achilles heel in my opinion.

Our attack overall needs more pace, it's nowhere near as quick as it needs to be and we are often way to slow getting the ball forward.
Gordon has electric pace so if he could be acquired it would be a big plus. His goal return has been good this season too, he's getting goals in our team I think.
Getting him is another thing though but with Newcastle likely not making the top four he may look to go again and we certainly wanted him last summer.

Diaz is a trickier, more skilful, harder working version of Adama Traore. He does the hard part only to let himself down with his frequent lack of end product.

We've had a number of players that have been linked to Barcelona or have fluttered their eyelashes in Barcelona's direction. If Diaz wants to go there, as long as we get a decent fee for him and if (and it's a big IF) we reinvest that money to get in a good replacement, we should let him go.

Gakpo isn't as flashy as Diaz, but he has better end product. Even if you think we could do better, I think we'd be better off keeping him. Jota needs to go. When fit he was good, but his propensity to get injured combined with looking like his best days are behind him means that we really do need to get in a quality number nine.

In terms of FSG reinvesting any money we get from player sales, the problem is not only that the player sold needs replacing, but that other players need to be added with that money e.g. players leaving on a free, others being on loan, retirements etc. Extra money on top of any funds raised needs to be spent on new players. Just relying on income from player sales in is not a recipe for sustained success. We're still reaping the benefits of the Coutinho money. Not only are we unlikely to have such a perfect situation reoccur, but the benefits we gained via Alisson and VVD isn't going to last forever.

We need to replace any outgoing players AND get in a few more to improve certain positions and beef up our squad. Not doing the latter has cost us dear both this season and in past seasons.

Clear to the manager who will try to change his entire formation to accommodate Diaz including switching him to CF..

And clear by his higher valuation despite being older.

Gakpo is a very good player, but he isn't at Diaz level. Are we not allowed to say that without being accused of disrespect? How would you converse on a forum if not?
You forget how he was doing before he was clattered by a thug.. he had scored something like 6 out of 7 in home games.Never seen Diaz ever do that in any of his footballing career.
Most people would chose Gakpo over Diaz..

I'd prefer that Diaz stay. Doesn't score or register direct assists as much as he should but his direct running, work rate and turning defenders inside out with his dribbling gives us an "X factor" and often leads to him breaking a game open. If we can keep Salah Diaz and Gakpo, I'm not too arsed what happens with the rest of the front line.

Jota looks to be past his best and can't stay fit and Nunez has only ever shown glimpses of what we need.

So…you think Gakpo is better than Diaz but having snookered yourself - and not wanting to be accused of “dissing” anyone you seem reluctant to speak plainly.

I would add that “most people” is a very low bar in most things and in this arena especially. What “most people” are we talking about? Most geezers in the pub? On this forum? Or most people in the industry?

Seemingly those in the know - or at least those earning a living in the sport rate Diaz higher as evidenced by his suitors and his value.

    But what do they know

Be tough for the Dutch to get Luis into their starting 11..

    Jokes aside...

John Barnes - and what a player he was btw.... hits the nail on the head for me. So often our most potent threat - the fella that is so often a catalyst.. for Salah's numbers.
