It sounds like the club got what they wanted… 2 years. I heard that Mo wanted a three year deal, but this makes much more sense.

If I recall, the last time he signed a contract, his form went off a cliff. No chance of that happening this time!

Seems right.

He gets a pay rise that he will feel he deserves and we take a cautious approach about the possibility of a sharp drop-off in what would have been a third year. Mo is probably the "exception" to the rule in that I don't actually anticipate huge drop-off (but some modification to his game would come) but there's a reason the nerds over-think these things given our set-up.

Anyway, that is just noise. This announcement is an excellent day for football and that's what really matters. When he is on it, he is a delight.

If he's going from 350k to 380k, it's a major point compared to a jump from 350k-400k

(I'm assuming his current contract is 350k)

He probably wanted 400k but 380k was closer to where the club were comfortable with a player his age and the length of the contract extension.


The bigger point for me (if this part is true) is the claim that he turned down a 500 mil move to the Saudi league for this extension.
That speaks volumes.
