I thought the same, even if it includes the contracts for Mo and VVD it’s still a hell of a lot to pay out.

Who did we sign in that period other than Chiesa?

Unless the club pays agents for sales/releases too

Maybe we gave the agents of the new keeper and that kid from Chelsea 10 mil each lol. Or add in slots agent and 7 mil each

Don't suppose there is much to the story of Diaz to the middle east for 300 million, maybe we might get 75 million to spend

Clubs have to spend quite a bit on agent fees these days - we're thankfully not "over-spending" in this area by the look of things.

Agent fees since 2022/23 look like this -

    Chelsea - £178.7 million
    Man City - £164.3 million
    Man United - £118.7 million
    Liverpool - £86 million
    Arsenal - £64.2 million

Chelsea and Man United look so wasteful, though if Chelsea manage to get a Champion's League spot it will help them a lot.

Far better that, than adopt the Ten Hag approach of gambling £600M on relatively unproven talent, because we have all seen how that can pan out…

However, saying that, rather than only adopting a Panning for Gold policy, if a proven talent or talents do become available this summer that seemingly perfectly fits our required player profile, ie Isak @ £ 150m etc, I believe given how well Slot has done this season, FSG really need to dig deep and deliver that player or players
This is largely aligns with how I see our squad work.

I absolutely love "panning for Gold" as you put it - there's something so satisfying about the fact that Man City would have killed to have had Matip, Robertson and Trent at certain points and they cost us very little, rather than spending £400m or whatever it was they did on full-backs over a few years.

That said, if the transformative, elevating signing can be done - you do it, providing they're the right one and they are worth it. Isak for example I hear people clamouring for at a rumoured £150m though I'd worry about injury - I suspect there is a forward out there available in the £80m - £120m region that could potentially get us more goals over the course of a season, partly by being more available in terms of fitness - though I don't know who it is and really want someone in the 22-26 age bracket, so that they're with us for a while.

Doesn't have to be a forward either - Man United benefitted from the big investment (for the time) in Rio Ferdinand, so if there's a centre-back out there or Brandt or whatever, that the analytics nerds and Slot mutually agree on, I hope we do it, as well as continuing to find out Robertson-types that can be acquired for less than their market value.

Even Salah - mad that he cost less than £40m, same for Mane and Firmino, same for Wijnaldum, lads like Mac Allister with the release clause - they're out there.

Just seen that the AFCON takes place between late December and mid January next UK winter. With the new CL format, that means Mo could be unavailable for up to 10 games for us :#

A list of (very Premier League / English-trinsic) players that I think would be useful additions to the squad.

What sort of fee do we think we're looking at for any of the following?

    Kerkez
    Huijsen
    Semenyo
    Alt-Nouri
    Cunha
    Rogers
    Guehi
    Wharton
    Eze
    Mitchell
    Beleba
    Mitoma
    Joao Pedro
    Kyle Walker-Peters
    Morgan Rogers
    Branthwaite
    Gordon
    Isak
    Hall
    Bowen
    Murillo
    Porro
    Maddison
    Berge
