He himself pretty much made that point in the most shithead way possible.
Why because he's made a decision to leave after twenty years? He is still their own player. Booing anybody is embarrassing let along doing it to one of the team you follow.

It’s leaving on a free and effectively taking what would have been a transfer fee for the club that made him and paid him millions and taking it for himself.
Could have signed a contract with a £40m-£50m clause that Madrid would still have paid and he could have gone with everyone’s blessing… well most, there’s always a few knobs.

The thing is they probably wouldn't have paid for him. They'd have just gone and cherry picked another RB for cheaper or free. That's how they operate.
Nobody is happy about that situation but booing s lad who's given 20 years of his life, the club paid no fee for him and has won everything in the game at club level. I personally wouldn't advocate anyone booing him and I'll bet there'll have been plenty of them shouted down today. Especially if they were in the Kop. It's not what we do.

    Let's agree to disagree.

You don't string along "your" club over signing an extension, knowing that doing so would at least allow them to recoup something from your departure, but instead choosing not to just because it will mean you get a signing bonus and a bigger check when you move on - while also earning your agent brother his own bonus signing fee.

He was all about himself, and never about the club, and the way he left aptly demonstrated it in its raw form.

I stand by my opinion that those fans are entitled to feel they way they feel and express it without reservation however they feel like and without judgment.
They'll still be here supporting this club 10, 20 years from now if not longer.

If Trent wanted a better reception or response, perhaps he should have treated them - and the club - with more respect than he did.

It didn't help his cause saying "I'm just a local lad playing for the club I love".

Not agreeing with the booing, makes us look pretty childish booing our own player at Anfield but I’m very pissed off with millionaire players screwing over clubs who made them for an even bigger payday. How many millions do they need ffs??

Exactly. Like alonso. Nobody begrudged him going. Don't like the way he's done it. Don't agree with booing our own players though.

This is most peoples opinion. Its so obvious Madrid tapped Arnold up between 1 to 2 years ago. Madrid are known for it.
In general people dont like being made to feel mugged off.

After 20 years of playing football, seems people lean on that 20 years, as though he was storming the beaches of Normandy on a daily basis

He's won 6, 19, 20, and more at LFC, and he's off for Madrid on a freebie
