    Pah…

Needs to be much better than that. It pure revisionism to claim that was a great summer. Borderline panic buy in the end. Years too late to change the midfield which retired players early,. . Missed out on our main targets and somehow Klopp STILL managed to work the miracle. But for a savage injury pile up we fake more points than this season easy money - even while integrating an entirely new midfield that was in its second season this time around.

The hope is - for those of us who know…. That Klopp’s legacy can continue. In bagging Slot the owners have “done it again” to a degree. They aren’t mugs - they know full well the magnitude of Klopp’s effect on the club. They/us struck gold with him. Timings aligned and the benefit was beyond all expectation despite being handicapped. Slot seems willing to continue within the restricted model and without ego. This is great. But will entail much work still.

This season - low expectations - a squad entirely built top-to-bottom by the great man… Key rival facing 115 charges and for whatever reason performing like shyte - the other current rival unable to match their previous 2 seasons - league wise…..United shytier than ever - Chelsea remaining a shadow of the club Roman owned / Quite a few stars aligning. Much of this may still be in play next season BUT I wouldn’t count on it.

Slot doesn’t have the charisma of Jurgen - it’s a stark reality - we will not find it as easy to coax the future Virgil - Alisson - Mane - Salah to the club… You know it - I know it and every agent knows it.

Trust me on this… Hughes/Edwards have a huge job.

Let’s hope they are up to it.

Don't know if I'd say it was a great summer but in the context of where we are now, getting in 3 solid players like that in the positions we need would be very encouraging together with securing VVD and Mo.

On the charisma thing, agreed. Slot is a different character. We probably won't convince those players who are borderline. If we could recruit any way well this season it might buy us some more seasons in terms of convincing other good players to come here.

Fingers crossed - it was a good window that. Not a perfect window and the caveat that must be supplied is that we should have done our succession planning a little better so that we didn't HAVE to buy four midfielders in one go, but at least we (eventually!) addressed the issue.

I'd be very happy if we could get one more midfielder in that was of the level of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai or Gravenberch in terms of that "unit" of the pitch and the goalkeeper situation is hopefully (pretty much) sorted. To add -

    - Full-back situation needs sorted
    - Successor for Van Dijk needs sorted
    - Something like two out, two in with the attack to give it a lift
    - Successor for Salah needs sorted

Those are our most pressing issues. If we can sort most of that out over the next couple of windows and continue to supplement it by giving some of the youth a chance, we are in a good spot.

Yeah. Sadly Nunez didn't turn out to be the player we'd hoped. Jota as well has tailed off. Diaz has had a good season and I would be keen to keep hold of him. Definitely need at least two coming into the forward set-up, especially if Jota goes. I would keep Jota personally and have him on the bench although his wages might dictate that he leave.

Ideally there would be several more but if we got 3 solid players for:
    LB
    2 Attackers

Then add some 2nd tier as back-up for places like right-back and midfield. A lot of Klopps success in the first years was built on the goal-scoring/assists of the front three, backed up by a very solid workhorse midfield.
I think our attack has lost a lot of potency in the past few seasons and Mo has carried it really.

I was joking a little there mate: Think you get the point tho.

You’re correct - it worked out ok - but how much of that was luck (other teams not being there at all) and Klopp?

I find it hilarious when I hear those who say how brilliant it was that we didn’t buy anyone last summer or step into the market in Jan. It worked out - happy days… but again only due to some exceptional circumstances.

One might as well say it was great that we didn’t have Salah or Firmino to face Barca needing a 4;0 win - because we did it.. The reality is - Had they played - we might have won 4:1 or even lost and gone out, Football is that type of game.

But this is the level of thinking so many who discuss this game have… It makes it a struggle at times.

You always run down the squad to suit your needs, sadly for you Slot & Co have won the league title.

Being PL champions and given Slots personal performance this season, attracting players shouldn't be an issue.

Slots profile on arriving to LFC was similar to Jurgens albeit less spectacular. Winning the title in his first season was fully earnt.

You refuses to concede the PL title was LFC's until it was mathematically done, once it was done mathematically, your back to moaning & chatting shit.

PL title hasn't been lifted by Virgil yet, so maybe take a few weeks off.

It's funny how you posted very low predictions for our opening 10 games of the season, 15 points from the opening 10 games.
Claimed the squad quality/spending was a/the contributing factor in Klopp walking early.
Prophesied the collapse of LFC in a post-Klopp era.

Now the league has been won, and prior to us winning it, you have forgotten your positions and opinions.

The squad that made Klopp walk early, now Klopps title winning squad.
The post-Klopp points dropping & collapsed never materialised, all praise to Klopp.

Not funny at all - sadly - unlike you I can accept when my predictions are way off. And in this instance so happy for that fact. But I did suggest that bagging Slot might be another master stroke long before the season even started so… Some of us are aware of how a football season can pan out like 2019/20 and 2020/21 - others cannot.

And I stand by everything I said - before during and as late as February/March for the reasons given at the time…

Just like the balloons who want to try and say not signing anyone was a master stroke - the pundits - the mensa graduate always wise after the fact - they could say Missing Salah and Firmino was a good thing for the Semi v Barca.

It’s this level of ThickMiesterFullery which you belong to sadly.
