Thread: Florian Wirtz

    Florian Wirtz

Assuming that all the positive noise surrounding the Wirtz transfer to LFC comes to fruition… 😁

Is there an argument, that Wirtz will be utilised as a direct replacement for Nunez but used more like a Firmino style player in a double number 10 position rather than an out and out number 9…

So with that in mind, I can see a world where we have Kerkez/ Robbo and Frimpong/Bradley bombing forward, Szobo positionally swapping with Macca and ends up playing alongside Gravenberch and Macca actually ends up playing alongside Wirtz in a double 10 configuration, with Diaz and Salah out wide…supported by the Kerkez/ Robbo and Frimpong / Bradley movement…

That for me would be a very exciting prospect…and just screams goals…..hey ho what the fuck do I know, but just thought I would share my thoughts on how I think we could fit Wirtz into our first team for next season… 🤞🤔😎👊

That would be my assumption as well.

If he's not slotting in the middle in place of one of the current three (I'm assuming Szobo), then I can see formations where Slot uses him in the 10 position as a 'false 9' (hate that expression), in a similar style to how Klopp used Bobby, and then have the attacks through the wings with Mo and Cody/Diaz supported by wingback attacks as you mentioned from the Bradley/Frimpong and Kerkez/Robbo overlaps.

It would indeed be a great lineup to watch.
And considering the price tag being thrown around, it's almost certain that Wirtz would be coming into the team as a starter and not an option for the middle three. I'd assume if he were to play in the middle it's Szobo who would give way.

I'd still want us to get a real 9 and a center forward to replace Darwin/Jota,...either one/or both.

And we still need to sort out the CB situation. Even assuming we keep Konate, I also assume we'll get Gomez back in hopefully full health and I don't see the club wanting to let him go since he can play multiple positions across the back 4. I'd rather we loaned out Quansah and see where we are with him and his development after a season, but then we'd need to replace him with someone else.

Florian Wirtz was in north west England recently to house hunt before potential Liverpool switch, should it proceed (not related to Man City). Bayern Munich have been informed of playmaker’s preference for #LFC, as

I'm seeing more and more outlets starting to report on this possible move - and increasingly so over the past couple of hours - so much so that at this point if it doesn't happen, so many are going to be embarrassed. Not to mention the club itself.

We've probably already passed that point even.

I'm even hearing from Bayern fans that they've pretty much lost all hope that they're still in the race to sign him any longer.

Either this will soon be a formality or a lot of people are going to look really foolish real soon with egg on their faces.

I have to say, if it does happen, I've been really impressed with how quickly we seem to be moving in the transfer window this year relative to past years when we'd sit on our thumbs doing nothing all summer until the last day of the window right before the season starts.

    We've been here before... (frequently)

Not saying that it won't happen, but let's at least wait until he's on the Babelcopter.

    Remember Nabil Fekir?

Literally you can see a pic of him in the deeper darker corners of the internet in a red shirt for the promotional stuff that would have gone out with the interview and it didn't happen - what a fun time that was.

With regards the potential fee, I just checked online and apparently Virgil’s transfer fee of Ł75M would be equivalent to approx Ł113M in todays money… which I think is quite interesting..

The only time we ever went out and bought a first choice target - then followed it up with another in Alisson.

We had to lose our most creative player to do it - but look what happened next… Still dining out on it in 2025. Money very well spent on absolute top top quality.

Wasn't it us that pulled out of that particular deal over concerns about his injury record.

    (subsequently proven right)
