If Wirtz did sign for us I'd take that as a sure sign that that there will be a number of significant departures this summer such as the Saudis possibly taking Nunez off our hands.

That’s true, but I was merely pointing price comparison of both transfers taking into account inflation, besides I am sure that if this transfer does go through, there will be transfers out to cover most, if not all of the Wirtz fee. Not quite as good a deal as the Coutinho deal, but tbf that was an extra ordinary piece of transfer business tbf…

We benefited from the knock on effect of PSG paying Ł200m for Neymar.

I feel like we need an option of someone stronger, either at cf or cm, like a mateta, cunha etc.
We can't control all games and sometimes other teams bully us with their tackling.

Anyway regardless, if the fees of this deal are to be believed, can a club like us afford the risk? Wirtz could be a Nunez in the league, or get injured.

Don't we also still need a younger cb with potential to start playing a bit with vvd? Konate might go soon, and on a free if we aren't careful.

Need a lb, need a striker assuming Nunez goes.

In terms of needing a CB, we need either a young and very promising one, or a good, experienced and reliable one. We also need a good quality LB, DM and CF.

Agreed, it is always a good idea to have a really string squad capable to deal with various challenges ahead, be that tactical or physical, but this post was primarily about how the starting 11 could possibly be enhanced with the addition of Wirtz…

Other signings required are covered well enough on a raft of other posts on this forum..

Lets see what develops over the weekend, if anything, given this is a massive weekend of our final game of the season, presentations, celebrations and the parade…. 😎👊

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Macca follow Trent to Madrid and the club wants to get his replacement sorted early.

It is far too early on in title-receiving weekend for that kind of talk!
