I have previously mentioned that for me TAA over the last couple of seasons has increasingly had the air of somebody acting like a 'Billy Big Balls'. In today's press conference Slott said the following, something which backs up what I've said about him.

He said he has not decided whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will get game time but the full-back has earned the right to celebrate with his team-mates: "He definitely deserves to be there because he has been a part of the incredibly successful years at the club."

In response to whether he has spoken to Alexander-Arnold about criticism he has faced for his decision to leave Liverpool this summer: "I speak to the human being every day. Combined with winning something together, it creates a different bond to what the fans may have with him."

However, Slot did reveal he spoke to Alexander-Arnold in pre-season about his work ethic: "I wasn't completely happy with every single minute he was on the training ground. In certain moments he could do a bit more – to say it mildly. That's what we talked about."

More on that subject: "I said to him you're a much better defender than everyone tells you, but unfortunately you don't show it all the time. This is why some people say this is part of the game you need to improve."

I absolutely love the fact that he was not afraid to tell him this directly.

Something that's been obvious to everyone for the longest time now.

Which isn't to say that Klopp never did it, but this is the first time we've seen a confirmation from a manager himself - whether club or country - that the subject not only came up but that he told him he needs to improve that part of his game.

More recently you're often left with the impression that Trent's been peripherally aware of this (like through Social Media or whatever) that people have this impression of him, but that no one of infleunce or real authority ever told him directly that it's a part of his game he needs to improve.

I also think Slot was probably being more diplomatic in how he was describing that conversation than maybe how it actually happens.

I've heard from interviews from people like Mo, that he's actually more direct and a tough as a manager than he might come off, and I also appreciate that in a manager.

Bosman rule only came in during 1995. So we've only had 30 years of players leaving on free contracts. McManaman, Owen & Trent leaving LFC on bosmans for Real.

Owen did not leave on a bosman, we got a fee and a player in return from RM. At that stage he was not a rat, that came much later.

I maintain my original statement that fans are allowed to feel how they feel and express those feelings how they see fit.

Especially match-attending fans who've paid to be there.
Epecially more so, them.

Trent is not the first ex-Liverpool or soon-to-be ex-Liverpool player - and...."one of our own"....- to be booed by the fans at Anfield. And he certainly won't be the last.
So to claim that his is not who we is is a fundamental misunderstanding of the fanbase.

I personally don't advocate booing of players or even former players -....even literal shitheads like Cisse....- I wouldn't encourage it. But at the same time, I also wouldn't discourage it or tell those that feel they need to do so to who how they really feel from doing so. They have that right.

He is the first player I can recall to be booed while still wearing the shirt, and he has no one to blame but himself for that, thanks to his bone-headed selfish decision to announce his departure before the season ended, while the club is essentially still in the middle of the title celebration - and therefore effectively making the last 3 games all about him when it should have been about celebrating the title.

Why couldn't he make that announcement on Monday?
Everyone already knew he was leaving and heading to Madrid.

It was funny for me to see that that a second manager in as many days - actually, within hours of each other I believe- ......essentally telling Trent that his defending sucks and he needs to improve that part of his game.

It's always refreshing to see when a Manager is willing to openly call him out like that and tell him what's what the way both Slot and Tuchel have done. Not having to worry about whether they'll upset him and he won't sign a contract extension he was never going to sign anyway.

I wonder how long it will be at Madrid before his new manager there, Xabi, has to call him out on the same.
The Madrid fans certainly won't hesitate to let him know.
