Came across as such a genuine and gentle soul in interviews.

It's insane how we compartmentalise our thoughts when it comes to sport. One bit of the mind says that a 28-year old will be in their 30s soon and we think about "the future" and in another reality - the infinitely more important one - there's a young man in the prime of his life with a new bride and children. Had so much more to give the Earth, as do countless who are taken far too young.

Just absolutely horrendous news to wake up to. The loss of a parent is so hard on young children. My Dad is currently doing a bit of tutoring for a friend's family as he lost his wife recently (4 kids and a dog) and it really puts everything into perspective. Awful for his wife.

Can only hope they can come to terms with it and find peace in the fullness of time. Life's cruelty is such a jolt at times.

As a smaller aside, I hope the club can honour him in some way, whether that is retiring his shirt, or a suitable spot outside the ground for reflection, or just.....something.

Bloody hard one to process this morning. Quite mad how our quest for a title defence that we have yearned for over a period of literal decades feels like such a non-issue right now.

Rest in peace Diogo. Thank you for some wonderful memories.

I don't think we'll ever understand life. How you can be here one minute and gone the next and often its the randomness of it all that hurts the most.. This is such a shock..

    It's unbelievably sad.
You can't even imagine it, his parents have lost both of their sons.
You'd never ever get over that. Losing a child must be the hardest thing in life to ever have to deal with.

The modern day footballer, loves the limelight and celebrity status, can be a great player but up themselves and can be a bit of a nob.
Jota wasnt like that and would have been your mate whatever his job was.
Sad loss and best wishes to his family and friends.
    Ynwa.

peace out see you next year, and all my love to you all, and i mean that, take care.
