Sad to see him go. We need to make sure hat in upgrading our attacking options, we don't let our back up attacking options get things. We've seen what happens with a top rate first team without top rate back up before...

The problem we had last year was Slot didn’t trust enough of the squad players, so we ran out of steam for a time, eg PSG and the EFL Final.

Slot wants a slightly smaller squad but to be able to use ALL of them when required. So a couple fewer but more flexible and better quality options.

    Pep has said the same.

Thing is, it doesn’t matter how many “bodies” you have if the manager won’t play them because he doesn’t deem them good enough

    Unreal business from us.

We paid £37m or so for him, didn't we?

Allegedly £140k-per-week if the £55k-per-week rumours have been squashed?

So roughly £25.5m in wages over 3 and a half years.

Bayern basically covered our fee for him AND our wages for 3 and a half years of excellent service, which could yet prove to be his best years.

Provided his spot in the squad is adequately replaced (not the easiest from a pure entertainment perspective, granted) then you'd have to say that's textbook stellar transfer work.

Also leaving in such a way where I don't think anyone will be holding a grudge or booing his touches should we face Bayern.

So far, so good. Will miss his footwork, tenacity and dribbling of course but we are building a squad of an age where most of the players will be able to contribute for 5/6/7/8 years for us and these sorts of transfers in the "ours" department are a necessary part of that particular strategy.

Was it £37m + add ons, either way it still good to recoup most if not all of the investment

Yeah great, we've lost one of the best left wingers in the league

    Under-rated, Just like trent.

We'll see next season, mark my words.
