    Carra/Neville

Slightly off-topic, post. What does anyone think of Carra and/or Neville on Sky?

Personally, I've gone completely off Carra the longer he's been on Sky. Initially I could stomach him a little bit as he's an ex-red and gave our club some great service to be fair (we can't forget Istanbul among others). As things have gone on, I just can't bear to listen to him really. I just find most of what he says to be blindingly obvious. He doesn't offer much insight given he's played at the highest level. I think he likes to create the impression that he thinks deeply about the game and sometimes offers opinions which might be against the grain but to me that's just posturing. Maybe I'm being harsh. I'd be curious to know others' opinions. Apologies if there's a previous thread.

In tandem, what do people think of Neville? I found him more interesting to begin with. I find as the years go on he just doesn't seem to know much more than the average fan. His predictions for title-winners are usually laughably inaccurate and biased. Is it the quality of pundits generally? Is it the assumption that top players will make good pundits?

Souness was one of the better pundits in recent times imho. I think that was because of years of experience at different levels in the game including failing horribly as a manager, which naturally makes him a more interesting character than the other two. I also think players in the past could talk about things other than football which makes them much interesting as human beings.

It would be refreshing to see some pundits who actually have the capacity for deeper thought and who can bring insight rather than just state the obvious.

I can't really say, Erm.. my streams I totally pay for, normally have american pundits or whatever, and they're pretty clueless and annoying, but for some reason when I do have to listen to garry and jamie...... it annoys me more, especially cara, I think it's because I actually know them, and cara played for us obviously and frankly sometimes, they should know better especially cara, there's been some shitty things he's said about certain players and the club, can't remember off top of my head

both strike me as a bit thick

Hope they get replaced at some point, gets pretty boring

Off-topic off-topic...... people will disagree but I still didn't think he was a great CB he'd get killed if he played for us today, championship or everton level imo

considering how well we've done as a club in recent history- he's got no right to be negative a lot.

Carra was always a negative moaning prick, even when he played- he loved having a go at others for his fuck ups

    Even AI google knows!

Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool player and current Sky Sports pundit, has faced criticism for what some perceive as overly negative commentary about Liverpool Football Club. Some fans and pundits have specifically pointed out that Carragher seems to consistently offer negative analysis or critiques of Liverpool, rarely offering positive observations. This has led to accusations that he "slags off" Liverpool during his commentary

I can't remember who it was he, but he went in on a player off-form who's normally good for us..... was a youngen I think, I just thought to myself, are you serious? that's all he needs a EX-LFC player slagging him off in the press you cunt

    few examples

"Jamie Carragher believes Curtis Jones 'arrogance' resulted in a 'poor' performance"

" Mohamed Salah aimed a dig at Jamie Carragher after he was accused of being “selfish' for his comments over a new Liverpool contract."

Diouf was a wanker but I found this funny and it's on topic

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "If Liverpool had 10 players like Carragher, then they would never win anything. Carragher, for me, is nothing. He's like a make of ketchup or mustard to a normal person: not important. I played for Liverpool for two years and Carragher never spoke to me. That's life, some people are like that." - Blackburn's El-Hadji Diouf lays into former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher, and introduces a new insult to ED's locker.

They have generally speaking dumbed a lot of stuff down on Sky in an attempt for soundbites, memeworthy moments and (worst of all) "top bantz" to appeal to a certain mould of viewer. Neville and Carragher have both accepted the task in a big way.

I find it infuriating at times and the worst of the lot for it is Micah Richards. Rarely had anything insightful, has to laugh at everything - I find him utterly exhausting.

I love positive people, but there's an unrelenting aspect to his upbeatness.

I don't listen to them. I'm not in favour of cancel culture but I'm amazed Carragher survived the spitting incident given how many other TV presenters have been thrown under the bus for less.

Sadly most ex-Liverpool players have gone down in my estimation after taking media jobs, Owen, McManaman, Danny Murphy, the rare exceptions being Alan Hansen and John Barnes.

I find Danny Murphy generally OK, tbh.
    Agree with the others!
