Would be great IF we could land that killer number 9 with Ekitike in combo from the left - I really like Gakpo as a fella - and he does his fare share but if we are relying on him out there for the season we are going to have an issue. Diaz kept things at optimum and was our biggest threat after Mo. consistent rotation and the challenge was a big help for cody last season - while personally I think it hindered Luis. With it all on Cody - it becomes fairly predictable. Can be ponderous - telegraphs his intentions and isn’t the quickest with his interplay.

    Alisson
    Frimpong Konate Van Dijk Robertson
    Sobozla Jones MacA
    Salah Wirtz
    Ekitike

Not going to happen, but without grav think it'll be good to have numbers in midfield, and have a solid win 2-0 will do

Szob to play in the slightly advance role, I hope this doesn't happen and i'm wrong, but I don't think Szob and wirtz in midfield is a good idea and not going to work, hopefully with Grav back that'll change, because jones isn't exactly the most solid and more of a forward player himself i'd say.

I agree Kev, the midfield has looked way too open in the run up, particularly without Gravenberch I would be wanting that extra body in there

First game of the season always makes me nervous. Hopefully the team won't be as easy to score against as in pre-season.

Yes I remember Brendans first prem game. A red card and a three nil loss (am I remembering that right?).
All the pre season optimism dissipated in a moment.
