I imagine the club would be too, in fairness.
We're quite clearly trying to massively future-proof the squad. The age profile suggests this side could compete for the title in the 26/27, 27/28, 28/29 and 29/30 seasons as well as remaining competitive in 25/26 while we have this huge turnover of the squad. I am reluctant to use the word "transition" as that always comes with the connotation of "we'll be crap now, to be good later" in the same way that when people say they want a "top four" finish the assumption is scraping 4th, when the sides that finish in first and second (title win or title challenge) also finish with the top four spots.
But yeah, to rewind - I don't think the club "plans" on entering the 25/26 season without Isak and Guehi, or appropriate alternatives if they aren't taking the "Van Dijk" approach of waiting it out until they get the player they want.
That's the one.
- 10 goals in 19 League appearances in 23/24 in the Premier League
- 12 goals in 34 League appearances in 24/25 in the Bundesliga
If the fee was reasonable I can see why we'd consider him as an option in our attack and we could potentially improve his output as well.
Probably not a 38-starts sort of player, but he seems to have progressed a fair bit over the last couple of seasons.
what about Konsa as a backup option ??
can play at RB too, and english
