Sorry but I disagree.
If they took Trent & Konate for £60m a piece I’d say thanks we’ll reinvest and improve. I wouldn’t lose a moment’s sleep.
However the facts appear to be that it has been communicated to both players’ camps that should they run their contracts down, Real will sign them.
That is the predatory abhorrence I can’t stomach.
As for the Newcastle situation, had Isak had his new improved contract as he was promised, he wouldn’t have told them he wanted to leave a year ago (see Melissa Reddy for details).
You may say I am looking at it through rose tinted glasses and there will be a modicum of that but I haven’t read anywhere that we approached Isak before he told Newcastle he wanted to leave. Not even the one eyed Geordie propaganda machine has said that.
I respect your opinion obviously Steveo, I just have a different one. We will have to agree to disagree
That’s fair enough miller but I believe you’re missing the point I have been trying to make.
Citing what Real can do and do versus what we cannot as a means to highlight where they are more weasel like than us is - imo - meaningless because of the natural tribal bias of a football fan.
Real can get players at other top clubs to run down their contracts and go for peanuts or for free. Why can they? Because of the unique glamour associated with the club. This is precisely the same glamour that dives Isak to want to come to Liverpool. Not enough to hand a transfer request tho eh. 😉 And that’s because glamorous though we are relative to the Toon - it’s not the epitome of a footballers career. We cannot get a player at Arsenal or Spurs or Newcastle to do the same as Real seem to be able to. So we don’t.
Real do what they do because they can. IMHO any club would do the same in their unique position. I guess until that happens we shall never truly know.
Time will tell
We do need more to be fair.
Quietly confident about the rest of the window. If the window stopped now then we are younger and look good in the starting XI, but have less depth - think most would agree that won't do.
What will be interesting (for better or worse) is what we do if Isak isn't done in this window. Stick with what we have and try in January a la Van Dijk? Or source a different player?

Sid knows he's crazy and he likes it. Balinkay
Tski on his way out on loan, don't see the point in a loan, just sell him even if it's cheaper, next year one year left and 30 years old ????
That's another LW option gone! lols
We’ve clearly bought in better quality of players but have weakened the squad. We can’t be letting anymore to leave. The way I see, It’s going to be just Guehi & Isak. If we can’t get them. Won’t be bringing anyone else in.
I would love to know what the fuck we do in training when it comes defending and taking set pieces. All them staff on the bench is anyone responsible for it?.We are woeful.
KERKEZ looked very weak for NUFCs first goal
