Today is quieter than i thought,ho hum.
Tottenham have signed the Netherlands attacking midfielder Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for Ł51.8m.
Statisticians do it all the time. As said earlier this summer, our statos like the transference from BL to PL.
Heres what you said in July 2025.
https://forums.lfconline.co.uk/showthread.php?311053-Hugo-Boss-EkitikeInteresting take on the Isak comparisons
“That can be interpreted as showing the quality of Ekitike's all-round game, whether holding up the ball, running into channels, or bursting in behind.
In that respect – in most respects, in fact – he is very similar to Alexander Isak, albeit with considerably more flair to his game and a penchant for taking players on in the dribble.
He is particularly adept at setting up team-mates, too, creating more chances from open play (44) in 2024-25 than any other Bundesliga forward.
The only slight concern is that Ekitike is a little raw in front of goal. He took 117 shots in the Bundesliga last season, more than anyone else, but converted a disappointing 12.8%, leading to an xG under-performance of 6.6 goals – a bigger gap than any other player in Europe's 'Big Five' leagues.
But that just means Ekitike needs a little tuning up.
It's worth nothing that when Isak was the same age, playing for Real Sociedad in 2021-22, he scored just six goals in 32 league games, under-performed his xG by 3.8, and converted just 8.2% of his shots.
In an era when utilising attacking transitions are of increasing importance, Ekitike's smart assists, his give-and-go moves, and his line-breaking carries into the final third are all hallmarks of the elite modern number nine.
As a case in point, he topped the 2024-25 Bundesliga charts for shot-ending carries (44) and ranked fifth for attempted dribbles (126), while also scoring more goals from fast breaks (4) than anyone else in the division.
Hope for him yet then…..
Seems you found it interesting to compare stats from players in different leagues in July.
In August, you ask what's the point![]()
As said statos do it all the time. At least yere a pair![]()
Kylian Mbappe won the European Golden Boot over Victor Gyokeres despite the latter scoring more goals. Here’s why.
Mbappe was crowned European Golden Boot winner in May, after wrapping up his first season at Real Madrid with 31 goals in 34 La Liga games, and 42 strikes in all competitions.
Indeed, that tally saw Mbappe become the highest scoring player ever in all competitions in a maiden Real Madrid season, surpassing Ivan Zamorano’s record set in the 1992/93 season.
However, Sporting’s Gyokeres scored more league goals than the France skipper last term. The Swede netted 39 goals in Portugal's domestic league as Sporting won the title.
But Mbappe was awarded the European Golden Boot over Gyokeres due to UEFA’s weighted scoring system, which places a higher value on goals netted in Spain than in lower-ranked leagues.

Firstly it wasn’t only about stats but style of play and the stats comparisons were about them both at the same age (relevant) and both outside the Premier League.
You were comparing stats from a much weaker league to the strongest league and of players at different ages stages in their careers.
But crack on if it makes you feel better
You asked about the point in comparing stats from different leagues.
I've quoted you comparing stats between leagues last month, La Liga & BL![]()
I've explained how statos do this all the time, as does the golden boot.
FYI La Liga and PL goals are largely accepted as equivalent in terms of ranking by statos. The highest grading of Europe's top leagues.
So, comparing BL goals with PL or La Liga goals would essentially be the same statistically.
Just because “statos” compare numbers from different leagues doesn’t make it any more relevant to ME what a player has done in the German, French, Italian, Portuguese or even to an extent the Spanish league, to stats achieved in the Prem. You can if you like, as I said, crack on but it’s absolute nonsense
Palace are looking for two centre backs to enable them to sell Guehi.
